Troy Baker may not be reprising the part of Joel for The Last of Us on HBO, but he’s found himself starring in a project adjacent to the series.
Just in, we have the announcement for the official Last of Us Podcast starring Baker, and showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. Watch this:
Here’s the official description:
Dying to know more about The Last of Us? Join Host Troy Baker and the co-creators of this new HBO original series, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, for an insightful conversation about the thrilling story of survival.
If you also look closely at the background of the video, it’s possible we could be seeing the graphic intro of the Last of Us series, what with the growing tendrils of the cordyceps infection. Of course, I could be wrong, but I don’t think anyone would bother to make the complicated animation for a trailer for a podcast. The sequence just feels like it has to come from the actual series.
With The Last of Us game being as layered as it is, I wouldn’t doubt that the show would be just as complicated. After all, Mazin did give HBO the Chernobyl miniseries, which had a complicated dance of a narrative. We shouldn’t expect any less from a property like The Last of Us.
The Last of Us Podcast launches the same day as the series which premieres on HBO Max on Jan. 16.
