Cyberpunk: Edgerunners had premiered in Netflix last week, and a lot of praise has been sung about this return to Night City from Studio Trigger.
The latest fan of the anime? Celebrity game director Hideo Kojima. Here’s what he had to say about Edgerunners on Twitter:
Kojima also added that the world kind of reminds him of Cyber City Oedo 808, an anime that came out back in the 90s. If anythingthe world of Cyberpunk kind of draws from multiple inspirations of science fiction, so it’s entirely possible that Cyber City could have been an influence at one point.
Going back to Edgerunners though, the anime has been praised for its synergy with the game, from its use of locations as well as the songs from the soundtrack. While the anime does share the lore with the game, you also have to appreciate Trigger’s signature style and unique character design.
I don’t think the anime needs a second season, but I would always be welcome to another romp around Night City.
