The Bastion is a Kinetic Fusion Rifle in Destiny 2, and with its Kinetic damage, you can hurt enemies through their elemental shields. To get this weapon, you’ll have to play through a series of quests before the firearm is yours. If you’re not sure about which ones they are, you’re in luck.

How to Get Bastion in Destiny 2

Since there are many enemies to kill and events to complete, getting the Bastion can be complicated. Fear not, as the process is thoroughly documented right here.

Talk to Saint-14

To unlock the Bastion, kick off the chain of events by finding Saint-14. Doing so will start the Memento quest, and its first stage is called “Spoken Word.” In this phase, your mission is to find Fallen Intel on the Tangled Shore.

Fallen Intel drops from slain Fallen Captains and Servitors. Make sure you bring your best gear and weapons to survive the army of foes.

Locate Spider on the Tangled Shore

After you get the Fallen Intel, find Spider and talk to him. You can complete some optional bounties he offers, but if you’re more interested in the Bastion, ignore those. Should you do them, don’t turn them in yet.

Spider will ask you to complete the “Spider’s Backroom Brawl” stage of the Memento quest. This step involves heading to the Empty Tank Lost Sector. Look for Aksiniks, Bound by Honor, in the Thieves’ Landing Lost Sector when you arrive.

Aksiniks will be in the area’s final room. Take him out and return to Spider, who gives you the following steps to take.

A Strong Arm

This stage consists of a checklist of three tasks. They are:

  • Finish 10 of Spider’s Bounties
  • Kill 30 challenging enemies
  • Finish eight Public Events
bounty

Now, you might realize why we asked you not to turn in the bounties to Spider earlier. If you did, you’d have to complete 10 more. However, finishing a few beforehand and turning them in at this stage counts toward your progress.

In addition, Heroic Public Events fill the progress twice as fast. It’s the only way to speed things up since there are no shortcuts for the other two tasks.

It’ll take some time as Public Events, and challenging enemies aren’t as easy to complete. Nevertheless, once you finish all three tasks, talk to Spider again.

Go to the Trapper’s Cave Grave Site

The gravesite is within the Four-Horn Gulch Lost Sector. You can find it under the waterfall after jumping down. It’s dark under the waterfall, which can lead to players missing the gravesite.

After you visit the grave, go back to Spider and talk to him.

Fight Defiled Reysk, the Waning Light

At this point, you can start the “The Hallowed Lair, Memento” Strike. This Strike is a modified version of “The Hallowed Lair.” Unlike other missions, the game will let you match with fellow Guardians playing this Strike.

Compared to the standard Strike, most aspects are the same, except Defiled Reysk is the final boss of the mission alongside The Fanatic. It’s not a particularly difficult fight, and the help of allies makes it even easier.

Head Back to the Tower

After defeating Defiled Reysk, the Waning Light, you can go back to The Tower. Go and talk to Saint-14 again, and you’ll receive the Bastion Exotic Fusion Rifle for your troubles.

Go to Monument to Lost Lights

Sadly, it’s impossible to play the Memento quest today. However, you can go to the Monument of Lost Lights and buy the Bastion there. It costs the following:

  • 100,000 Glimmer
  • One Exotic Cipher
  • 150 Etheric Spirals
  • One Ascendant Shard

Hope for Those in Darkness

The Bastion only deals Kinetic damage, which is helpful against elemental shields. Its Intrinsic Perk is Saint’s Fists, which lets players charge the Bastion before firing three spreads of Kinetic slugs. It’s better in PvP, though not entirely useless in PvE.
