F. Murray Abraham Exits Mythic Quest

Writer and Storywriter

Despite being the central character in one of the best episodes of the last season of Mythic Quest, it looks like we won’t be seeing C.W. Longbottom in the near future.

F. Murray Abraham Exits Mythic Quest

According to Vanity Fair, F. Murray Abraham, who plays video game writer C.W. on the show, has chosen to exit the series. Lionsgate revealed in a statement, “F. Murray Abraham will not be returning to Season 3 of Mythic Quest. Beyond that we do not comment on matters concerning personnel.”

There have been no reasons as to why Abraham would leave the show, but Deadline did point out that he did land roles in HBO’s next season of The White Lotus as well as the anthology series Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities. I think it’s possible that Abraham couldn’t find time in his schedule to return. Even in the last season his appearance was already pretty sparse.

Hopefully the Mythic Quest team could find a way to give C.W. a good sendoff. With Poppy working on her own original game, it’s likely they won’t need C.W. to do the story this time. Then again, maybe they could open the door for Abraham to make his return in a future season. What if Poppy decides to make a game based on C.W.’s Tears of the Anaren series?

Apple has greenlit Mythic Quest for two more seasons, and it’s possible the show could only run as long as Season 4. Though I would have loved to see more, I’d rather a show end on its own terms rather than run for too long and end it stale.

No release date has been announced for Mythic Quest Season 3, but you can catch the show now available on Apple TV+.
