Forza Horizon has been around for quite a while. Even though it gives players a very unique experience to feel some speed, some might not be able to even play it.
This might be due to the fact of how many issues players have when launching the game. That is not to say that Forza Horizon 4 has more issues than any other PC game, in fact, that is quite normal, and to be expected.
Particularly, a common problem that many PC players are facing is the one where their game doesn’t even launch. This problem can be solved with simple solutions.
Not Launching FIX – Forza Horizon 4
When a game is not launching on PC, it can be due to a wide number of things. First off though, if you’re facing this particular issue, then checking for the latest operating system or graphics card driver updates is a must.
These are usually the prime suspects if you’re having launching issues. Other than that, one should also try launching Forza Horizon 4 as an administrator to see if that fixes the issue.
Sometimes games might not have the required administrative privileges to launch the game.
Here are some other not-launching fixes for Forza Horizon 4:
Disable Overlays
We all love to see our FPS during a game, or see any notifications from our Steam account. But for some odd reason, these overlays might cause a wide variety of issues in games.
The general rule is that players should disable all of them, to see whether that might cause Forza Horizon 4 not to launch. Most common overlays that people use are: Steam, FPS counters, Discord, and others.
Disable Windows Defender
Windows Defender is known to misdiagnose some games, and find them as a threat. That usually results in game crashes, freezes, and launching issues.
To disable the Windows Defender, do the following:
- Open your Start Menu and search for “Virus & Threat Protection”.
- Click Enter, and then Manage Settings at virus & threat protection settings.
- Turn off Real-time Protection.
- Close the window and launch Forza Horizon 4.
Reinstall or Check for Updates
Sometimes you might just be dealing with a poorly installed game, which during the install, some files have gotten corrupted. To fix this, you can try updating the game at the platform you’re playing at, or a simple reinstall.
If even that didn’t fix Forza Horizon 4 not launching, then make sure to install the latest DirectX and Microsoft C++ Redistributable.
