GTA 5: How to Watch Movies

Rockstar Games devs had a ton of fun developing the GTA 5 game world – look at the satirical and parodic nature of radio stations, billboards, products, and locations around GTA 5.

This approach even carries over to some of the viewable movies in GTA 5, which isn’t surprising, considering Los Santos is a parody of Los Angeles.

It is easy to dismiss GTA 5’s in-game movies as a waste of time. Nevertheless, trying to understand movies that don’t make a ton of sense in the first place can be a hilarious and fun activity in GTA 5.

If you are looking for movie theaters and wondering about what movies GTA 5 offers, you have come to the right place. We will show you where the cinema is in Los Santos and what movies are available to watch in this guide.

Movies in GTA 5

1 1

Movies are one of many activities that players can partake in around Los Santos. And, like some activities in-game, you can bring a friend over and watch movies together in GTA 5.

Like in real life, movies in GTA 5 usually start with movie trailers promoting other titles and a PSA on movie theater etiquette. The player is limited to just zooming in and out and moving their mouse or joystick to look around while in the cinema.

Similar to real-life movie theaters, the titles you can watch in GTA 5’s movie theaters will vary depending on the time of day you enter the cinema. Unfortunately, business hours are limited, as cinemas in GTA 5 are only open and accessible daily between 10 AM and 10 PM.

If you are bored of playing Golf, Tennis, or Darts, head to one of the cinemas found in Los Santos and enjoy a few minutes of relaxation with your friend, Michael, Franklin, or Trevor.

How do you go to the movies in GTA 5?

To watch movies in GTA 5, you must go to any of the three locations around the map and approach the cinema’s main entrance.

There are three different cinemas where you can watch movies in GTA 5. These are:

  • Tivoli Cinema;
  • Ten Cent Theater;
  • Oriental Theater;

Tivoli Cinema

The Tivoli Cinema is one of three accessible movie theaters in Los Santos. It is located at Morningwood Boulevard and Cougar Avenue, Morningwood, Los Santos.

Players can enter the Tivoli Cinema and watch a movie for just $25. Michael can purchase the Tivoli Cinema for $30,000,000 after completing the Nervous Ron mission. After which, Michael can enter Tivoli Cinema and watch any movie for free.

The Tivoli Cinema is loosely based on the Fox Bruin Theater in LA, California.

Ten Cent Theater

Ten Cent Theater is another movie theater where players can enter and watch movies in GTA 5 and GTA Online. It is located at Sinner Street and Integrity Way, Textile City, Downtown Los Santos.

Watching movies here will cost you just $25 – similar to Tivoli Cinema’s rates.

When playing as Michael, you can opt to purchase the Ten Cent Theater for $20,000,000 in-game. After which, you can earn a weekly income of $264,000. Once again, you must complete the Nervous Ron mission before this establishment is made available.

Oriental Theater

The Oriental Theater, located at Vinewood Boulevard in Downtown Vinewood, is a Chinese-themed movie theater in GTA 5. You can find this movie theater just east of the Pacific Standard Public Deposit Bank in Downtown Vinewood.

This movie theater was first seen at the premiere of Michael’s film titled ‘Meltdown.’ And like the other movie theaters in GTA 5, movies will cost $25.

What are the movies in GTA 5?

You can watch three unique titles from the three movie theaters mentioned above. Here are the available movies in GTA 5:

The Loneliest Robot in Great Britain

Under its family-friendly visuals, The Loneliest Robot in Great Britain features scenes of violence, profanity, and sexual content, among many other themes that stretch its generous PG rating.

The story is loosely based on George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four movie, which featured a similar futuristic dystopian Great Britain. The film features several real-world movie scene references from titles such as WALL-E, King Kong, and Treasure Island.

Capolavoro

Capolavoro is a black and white film throwback to 1960s modernist European cinema. The movie makes little sense when watched from in-game, as the story outlines a man’s life and how a voice in his head and his wife’s voice both try to make the man go insane.

To add to the already confusing plot line and theme, Capolavoro is spoken in French and Spanish.

Despite this, Capolavoro won Best Foreign Film and Best Marketing Campaign awards in GTA 5.

Players can watch Capolavoro in GTA 5 at the three movie theaters in-game. The movie is available from 1 PM to 5 PM daily.

Meltdown

Meltdown is the most recognizable film in GTA 5 due to Michael’s involvement in its production.

Meltdown follows the adventures of two businessmen in Liberty City as they try to chase down their former mentor after finding out about his plans to disrupt The Exchange.

Players can rewatch Meltdown after its premiere at any movie theater in Los Santos. The movie is available between 6 PM and 10 PM daily.

Big Screen

The number of watchable movie titles is pretty limited in GTA 5, which is quite understandable since you’re supposed to be out completing missions and heists around Los Santos rather than sit down and watch parodic movies in the movie theater.

Still, the ability to sit down and watch a movie in-game is nice and will count towards achieving 100% completion in GTA 5.
