2023 is gearing up to be a huge year for Super Mario. Besides the upcoming movie from Illumination, Universal Studios has revealed their upcoming park extension—Super Nintendo World.

Here’s the official description:

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™ takes you into the world of Super Mario™. Battle Team Bowser on the groundbreaking Mario Kart™ ride. Play interactive games throughout the land and track your score with a Power-Up Band™. Dine at Toadstool Cafe™, meet Mario and friends, and purchase exclusive merch at the 1-UP Factory™ store.

A Super Nintendo World actually opened in Japan a year ago, and it had almost all the same features that we saw in the Universal trailer from Toad’s restaurant to the bands that guests would wear to interact with the random attractions in the park.

You can watch a tour here:

I don’t know if the US version of Super Nintendo World has its own unique features, but I’m guessing everything is going to be in English as compared to the park in Japan.

Like I said, 2023 is going to be a big year for Super Mario. While the character is popular enough now, we can expect a huge uptick in interest with the character when The Super Mario Bros. Movie releases in April. So far, the trailers have looked fantastic, and with the studio behind Minions making the film, you can imagine the movie is going to milk the hell out of the cute characters.

Super Nintendo World opens at Universal Studios Hollywood on Feb. 17, 2023.
