Dungeons & Dragons has found itself adapted into all kinds of media, but they have yet to have that solid movie adaptation based in the world of the IP. This March will see he release of the D&D movie starring Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Justice Smith, and we have a new clip of the party doing some investigative necromancy.
Check this out:
Though huge fantasy films like The Lord of the Rings take their lore very seriously, it looks like Honor Among Thieves is going to be embracing the nature of the game as its played by modern audiences; with some serious lore being played out by modern characters.
Even each party member seems to be a trope from the usual Dungeons & Dragons table from the self-serious knight played by Rege-Jean Page to the action-focused warrior that Michelle Rodriguez’s character looks to be.
While there are all kinds of fantasy IPs that want audiences to take their worlds seriously, I think the D&D film is more encouraging audiences to check out the actual game. If anything, it does look like a fun ride with friends.
Here’s the official description for the film:
A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers embark on an epic quest to retrieve a long lost relic, but their charming adventure goes dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people.
Watch out for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves when it comes to theaters on March 31.
