It has been a while since we have gotten an update from Overwatch 2. It makes sense, seeing that the game has undergone some major shake-ups, including the switching of its game director and the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft.
Now we have a new update on the sequel, and it reveals that they will be making some major changes to bring the game to players sooner. Watch this:
The update announces that this April will see a closed PvP beta that will allow players to access all-new maps coming to Overwatch 2, including Circuit Riyal, New Queen Street, Colosseo, and Midtown. Players will also get access to new character Sojourn and reworks for existing characters like Doomfist, Bastion, Sombra, and Orisa.
New game director Aaron Keller also promises more frequent updates on the sequel from this point on. He says, “Honestly, we’ve let you down when it comes to delivering Overwatch content. We hear you, and we’re committed to continual updates on all things Overwatch 2. This stars with my update to you today.”
You can sign up for the upcoming beta here.
Ever since Jeff Kaplan left the game, there has been a lot of skepticism being directed at the Overwatch sequel. Still hopefully, the people remaining on the project will be able to bring back the hype to one of the biggest franchises to come out of 2016.
Overwatch 2 still has no release date, but you can play Overwatch now for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
