Amber is always energetic, and a full-of-life member of the Knights of Favonius and is the best and only Outrider of the guild. Each day, she burns with a fiery enthusiasm that sees her go about her life like a whirlwind, smashing through any obstacle in her way.
A few years after Amber was admitted to the Outriders, her grandfather – who founded the Outriders of the Knights of Favonius – disappeared and never returned. The Knights took special care of the young granddaughter, but only during an intense engagement with some monsters did the senior knights notice Amber’s bravery and resourcefulness in the heat of battle.
Amber took on her grandfather’s post hoping to understand why he left Mondstadt. But when she officially became an Outrider, she was no closer to unraveling the mystery behind his wordless departure. While struggling to look for clues, she came across a book of fables where she read lines: “What you lacked was not wind but courage. It is courage that allowed you to become the first flying birds of the world.”
The young Outrider realized that she shouldn’t wait for direction from someone else but should be like those courageous birds that spread their wings and flew into the blue sky. A Vision began to shine brightly at her hip when she realized this.

How to Get Amber
Amber is one of the four starting characters you can get as you progress through the main story at the game’s early levels. She will first appear in the Wind-Riding Knight sub-quest of the Prologue Act I: The Outlander Who Caught the Wind Archon quest, which is the main storyline for Mondstadt. In one of the missions – Winds of the Past – you will enter a domain and will be able to play a trial version of this character. This means that you can get her for free.
After completing the mission, Amber will be one of the characters you own. However, these starting characters were never added as a featured 4-star character in any Character Wish banner, which made it difficult to unlock their constellations.
The easiest guaranteed way to unlock the constellations of Amber is to save up on Masterless Starglitters and exchange 34 of them for one character item: Amber from the Paimon’s Bargains shop. But this shop will only have two characters available each month, and these characters are randomly selected.

Team Role and Play Style
DPS Character
Amber can be the main DPS or a sub-DPS with her kit designed to damage opponents.
Her play style summons Baron Bunny to get all the enemies’ attention as she shoots them from a safer spot with fully-charged Aimed Shots. Her elemental burst can also be used from quite a distance, making her a good-ranged character.
Sub-DPS Character
As a sub-DPS, the play style can be switching to Amber and summoning Baron Bunny to taunt enemies, then switching back to your main DPS character. When her elemental burst is ready, you can have Amber cast it and continue attacking with your main DPS.
Amber elemental burst can even be combined with Chongyun’s elemental burst for a Reverse Melt Elemental Reaction attack. She will cast Fiery Rain, and as the flaming arrows continuously apply Pyro to the targets, Chongyun’s Spirit Blades will trigger the reaction several times.
Amber’s Talents
Combat Talents
Normal Attack: Sharpshooter
Amber’s normal attack talent allows her to perform up to 5 consecutive shots with a bow.
It also allows her to do an Aimed Shot for a more precise hit with increased damage. While aiming, flames will accumulate on the arrowhead, and a fully charged Aimed Shot will produce a flaming arrow that deals Pyro Damage.
When used mid-air, this talent allows Amber to fire off a shower of arrows before falling and striking the ground. This manner deals AOE damage upon impact.
Elemental Skill: Explosive Puppet
Using this talent will have Amber throw her ever-reliable puppet called Baron Bunny to take the stage.
Baron Bunny will continuously taunt the enemy to draw the attack to it. Its HP scales with Amber’s Max HP, and when it is destroyed, or its timer expires, this puppet will explode and deal AOE Pyro Damage.
You can hold down the button of this elemental skill to adjust the throwing direction of Baron Bunny. The longer the button is held, the further the throw will be. A marker will indicate where Baron Bunny will land, making it easier to set up this puppet.
Elemental Burst: Fiery Rain
Amber’s elemental burst will have her fire off a shower of flaming arrows that deals a continuous AOE Pyro Damage.
Passive Talents
Every Arrow Finds Its Target
This passive talent enhances the feature of Amber’s elemental burst talent. With this unlocked, the Critical Rate of Fiery Rain is increased by 10%, and its area of effect is widened by 30%.
Precise Shot
This passive talent will highlight Amber’s play style, which involves a lot of Aimed Shots. With this, when an aimed Shot hits on a target’s weak points, Amber’s ATK will be increased by 15% for 10 seconds.
Utility Passive: Gliding Champion
As the gliding champion of Mondstadt, Amber’s utility passive will boost your gliding abilities. When she is at the party, the gliding Stamina consumption of the entire team will be decreased by 20%.
However, this effect cannot be stacked with other Passive Talents that provide the same effects.
Constellation: Lepus
Constellation Level 1: One Arrow to Rule Them All
This first constellation of Lepus will enhance Amber’s Aimed Shot so that it will fire two arrows in a single shot. The damage of the second arrow will be 20% of the first arrow’s damage.
Constellation Level 2: Bunny Triggered
Unlocking this second constellation level will grant Amber the new and improved Baron Bunny. This will allow you to manually detonate the puppet by hitting its foot with a fully-charged Aimed Shot.
The damage from the explosion via manual detonation is 200% stronger than when Baron Bunny is destroyed or when its timer expires.
Constellation Level 3: It Burns!
Amber’s third constellation level, “It Burns!” will increase the level of her elemental burst by three and upgrade its maximum level from 10 to 15.
Constellation Level 4: It’s Not Just Any Doll…
It’s Not Just Any Doll… is the fourth constellation level of Lepus, and with this unlocked, the cooldown time of Amber’s elemental skill – Explosive Puppet – is decreased by 20%. Additionally, an extra charge for the skill will be available. This allows Amber to throw up to 2 Baron Bunny puppets.
Constellation Level 5: It’s Baron Bunny!
Amber’s fifth constellation level, “It’s Baron Bunny!” will increase the level of her elemental skill by three and upgrade its maximum level from 10 to 15.
Constellation Level 6: Wildfire
The final level of Amber’s constellation supports the team. With this unlocked, whenever she uses her elemental burst, the entire party will have an increased Movement Speed and ATK by 15% for 10 seconds.
How to Build Amber
Since Amber is a character designed to deal damage either as your main DPR or sub-DPS, the focus on building her is to increase her damage output. With her play style, which is a rotation of charged Aimed Shots, elemental skill, and elemental burst, increasing her Pyro Damage should be a priority.
Weapons and artifacts that can boost her charged Aimed Shots, elemental skill, and elemental burst must be considered. Make sure that Amber has around 2,000 ATK and at least 70% Critical Rate before focusing on Critical Damage.
Pyro is a good triggering element for Elemental Reaction Damage, especially Melt. If you plan on an Elemental Reaction team where Amber triggers the Reaction, ensure she has a decent amount of Elemental Mastery.
Although Amber’s elemental burst only requires 40 Energy, her elemental skill is not easy to spam. Thus a little Energy Recharge will not be wasted. But, if another Pyro character is present in the team, the Energy Recharge Rate bonus can be ignored.
Weapon: Bow
The bow is Amber’s weapon, and the ones you need to equip her should have Critical Rate, Critical Damage, or Energy Recharge as its secondary stat. The latter is highly recommended if Yelan has low energy recharge, no other Hydro character in her party lineup, or if constellation level 1 is not unlocked.
5-Star Bows
Amos Bow
The Amos Bow is the other 5-star bow that is permanent to both banners, just like the Skyward Harp. This weapon is a good bow for a damage dealer because it increases the damage of the user’s normal and charged attacks.
The second effect is better for a character that focuses on long-ranged attacks. Amber can easily utilize this with her play style focusing on fully-charged Aimed Shots. But to maximize it, Amber should keep a good distance from her target.
Skyward Harp
This is perhaps the most versatile 5-star bow in the game and is a permanent item, which means you can get it in both the standard and weapon event banners regardless of whether it is featured.
Skyward Harp has the highest base ATK among all available bows in the game with a secondary stat of critical rate. The passive effect grants a boost in Critical damage, and hits to an opponent have a chance to inflict a small AOE attack that deals Physical damage.
These stat bonuses are fairly balanced and will make it easy for you to build and get good damage output for any DPS bow character.
Aqua Simulacra
Aqua Simulacra’s secondary stat is Critical Damage, which allows you to focus on Critical Rate for artifacts. Its passive effect—The Cleansing Form—increases the weapon user’s HP, and if opponents are nearby, the character’s damage will also be increased. The damage increase bonus will also take effect even if the user of this bow is not on the field.
Polar Star
This time-limited 5-star bow has Critical Rate as its secondary stat and a passive that will increase the damage of Yelan’s elemental skill and burst.
Using this bow, any attack from Amber that hits an opponent will grant her a stack of Ashen Nightstar, which increases ATK. A maximum of 4 stacks can be gained, and each stack will last 10 seconds.
Thundering Pulse
Another 5-star bow that can only be obtained when featured in the weapon banner is the Thundering Pulse. This one will greatly boost Amber’s Critical damage with its secondary stat.
The weapon’s passive effect grants an increase of 40% to Amber’s ATK, and she will gain a stack of Thunder Seal, which increases the damage of her normal attacks. If Amber damages opponents using her normal attack and elemental skill, or if her energy is less than 100%, he will gain another stack of Thunder Seal.
Elegy for the End
This weapon has an energy recharge as its secondary stat bonus, with a passive effect that will increase the user’s Elemental Mastery and ATK.
This is still a decent weapon for Amber if her way of generating elemental energy particles is through her elemental skill and if her playstyle is that of support or off-field DPS type where you switch to her only to cast her elemental skill and elemental burst.
4-Star Bows
The Viridescent Hunt and Blackcliff Warbow
If you are focusing on Amber’s overall damage output, especially if she is the main DPS character in the team, these two weapons are really good choices.
The Viridescent Hunt has a Critical Rate as its secondary stat. Its passive effect called Verdant Wind grants a 50% chance to generate a Cyclone whenever a normal and charged attack hits an opponent. The Cyclone will continuously attract surrounding opponents and will deal physical damage to these opponents.
With Blackcliff Warbow’s Critical Damage secondary stat, you can focus on building Amber’s Critical Rate with her artifacts. This bow’s passive called Press the Advantage will increase her ATK after Amber defeats an opponent. This effect is good in situations where multiple weaker opponents are present.
Prototype Crescent
This weapon also has an ATK% bonus and can be obtained by crafting. Its passive will temporarily increase ATK to a certain percentage if a charge attack hits on an opponent’s weak points.
Since Amber’s play style is doing a lot of charged Aimed Shots, triggering the passive effect of this weapon would be very easy.
Fading Twilight
This is an event-exclusive bow, meaning you can only get it as a reward of the Perilous Trail during the 2.7 game content update. If you get this bow, you can have Amber equip it and help make up for the energy recharge she needs, thanks to its secondary stat.
The passive effect of this bow is called Radiance of the Deeps, and it has three states: Evengleam, Afterglow, and Dawnblaze. Each state increases the damage of the bow user to a certain percentage, and this weapon switches to a different state every 7 seconds, even if the character is not on the field.
Radiance of the Deeps will also switch states when an attack from the character using this bow hits an opponent.
This 4-star event bow is good for an off-field DPS due to which the passive effect of this bow works.
Sacrificial Bow and Favonius Warbow
These are the two 4-star bows that have Energy Recharge as its secondary stat.
The Sacrificial Bow has a passive effect that will give you more chances to use Amber’s elemental skill. Because when Lingering Lifeline’s explosion hits an opponent, the bow will give it a chance to reset its cool down.
The Favonius Warbow, on the other hand, will quickly fill Amber’s energy meter and have her elemental burst ready in no time.
Artifacts
Crimson Witch of Flames
For a Pyro and elemental reaction damage build or type Amber, you can have the 4-piece set of the Crimson Witch of Flames.
Over the 15% Pyro damage bonus effect of the 2-piece set, having four pieces of this artifact set will increase that bonus by 50% of its starting value after Diluc uses his elemental skill.
Triggering an elemental reaction will also boost that damage when the 4-piece set of this artifact is equipped. The damage of Overloaded and Burning will be increased by 40%, while Vaporize and Melt damage will be increased by 15%.
Lavawalker
The Lavawalker artifact is for the Pyro build Amber or any character that will throw a lot of Pyro attacks. However, this artifact only shines if a 4-piece set is equipped.
The 2-piece set of Lavawalker artifacts will only give a bonus of increased resistance to Pyro. If four pieces are equipped, aside from the 2-piece set effect, the damage of the user against opponents affected by Pyro will be increased by 35%.
It may seem that the 2-piece set is negligible, but if your character uses Pyro, the things around you can catch fire and then cause your character to get affected by Pyro. This is where the increased Pyro resistance bonus becomes useful.
Wanderer’s Troupe
This artifact gives the character a bonus of 80 Elemental Mastery, making it a good choice if you want to increase Lisa’s elemental reaction damage.
If four pieces of this set are equipped, the damage of Amber’s charged attacks will also be increased by 35%.
Noblesse Oblige
The Noblesse Oblige is a good artifact set for an off-field type Amber with a play style that is more into throwing elemental burst attacks to the enemies.
With four pieces equipped, Amber’s elemental burst damage will be increased by 20%, and when she uses the talent, all party members will have an ATK boost of 20% for 12 seconds.
Shimenawa’s Reminiscence
Since Amber’s play style alternates between elemental skill and charged attacks, the 4-piece set of this artifact can be a good choice.
Aside from the 18% increase in Amber’s ATK, when she has 15 or more energy, she will lose 15 more energy after using an elemental skill, but the damage of her normal, charged, and plunging attacks will be increased by 50% for 10 seconds.
Vermillion Hereafter
The 2-piece set of this artifact gives an 18% ATK bonus. With the 4-piece set, aside from the ATK% bonus, after the character uses an elemental burst, this character will gain the Nascent Light effect that increases ATK by 8% for 16 seconds.
When the character’s HP decreases, their ATK will increase by 10%. This further increase can be triggered once every 0.8 seconds and can be stacked up to 4 times. Nascent Light will be dispelled when the character leaves the field, and if an elemental burst is used again during its duration, the original Nascent Light will be dispelled and replaced by a new stack.
Combining 2-Piece Sets
Gladiator’s Finale, Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, and Noblesse Oblige
The 2-piece set of these artifacts can be combined with a 2-piece set of the Crimson Witch of Flames.
With the 2-piece Noblesse Oblige, aside from the bonus you get from Crimson Witch of Flames, Gladiator’s Finale, and Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, you will also have a bonus of increased damage to elemental burst.
Artifact Parts’ Main Stat
Since Amber throws a lot of Pyro-charged shots, increasing her Pyro damage bonus should be considered. You can get a Goblet of Eonothem with the main stat of Pyro damage bonus.
For the Circlet of Logos, it is always better to have one with either Critical Rate or Critical damage as the main stat, depending on what Amber needs.
