Pokemon Legends: Arceus includes plenty of Pokemon that can solely be caught if the player has met certain prerequisites. An example is Basculegion, which can only be caught by evolving a Basculin after it has accumulated at least 300 recoil damage without fainting.
Another is the Hisuian Arcanine, which can only be caught using a Fire Stone to evolve a Hisuian Growlithe. Every Legendary and Mythical Pokemon in the game is the same—they can only be captured under certain conditions.
An example is Darkrai, which can only be caught if the player has a save file for another game, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl. Another example is the legendary Arceus, which can only be caught once the player has captured 239 of the game’s 242 Pokemon.
In this guide, we will learn how to catch the Legendary Pokemon Tornadus in Pokemon Legends: Arceus! Consider this your spoiler warning for a few post-game missions and story details!
Tornadus
Tornadus, the 231st Pokemon in the Hisuian Pokedex, is a Flying-type Cyclone Pokemon that is one of a quartet of Legendary Pokemon known as the Forces of Nature along with Thundurus, Landorus, and Enamorus. The legendary Tornadus has two forms: Incarnate Forme and Therian Forme.
Tornadus is a Flying-type Pokemon which means it has the following:

Incarnate Forme
Tornadus’ Incarnate Forme has a green, muscular, humanlike body that looks like a genie, a pair of purple horns on its forehead, white, wavy hair, a white mustache, a pair of yellow eyes with white irises, a pair of pointy ears on the sides of its head, several purple spots all over it front torso and arms, a pair of muscular arms with five fingers on each hand, a large white, trailing cloud on its lower body, and a long, purple, curling tail that has whirled tip and several light brown, whirled growths spanning the length of its tail.
According to its Pokedex entry in the game for its Incarnate Forme, Tornadus stirs storms and is believed to cause the seasons to turn once it whips up the air. It is also suspected that its humanlike form is not its real form.
The base stats for its Incarnate Forme are:

Therian Forme
Its Therian Forme has a large, green body that looks like a bird, a pair of thin, purple horns on its forehead, white, long, flowy hair, a white mustache that forms the top half of its beak, a pair of yellow eyes, a red gem on its navel, purple diamonds on its chest, a pair of large, feathered wings for arms that also has thumbs and five feathers with purple tips as fingers, a pair of legs with three sharp, purple claws and one dewclaw for each talon, a trailing cloud on its lower back, and a long tail that has a whirled tip and several light-brown, whirled grows spanning its length.
For Tornadus’ Therian Forme, its Pokedex entry in the game says that this Pokemon’s form is an example of what they call a “form change,” but it is suspected that this birdlike form is Tornadus’ natural form. Also, Tornadus has been seen flying across the ocean in this form.
Tornadus’ Therian Forme has these base stats:

Catching Tornadus
As previously noted, Tornadus, being a Legendary Pokemon, can only be caught once the player has met special conditions. To face Tornadus, the player must take on Request 94, called the “Incarnate Forces of Hisui” Request.
Unlock the Request
To unlock this request, the player must complete the game’s main story through “The Counterpart” mission. This is the 18th mission of the game, where the player must quell Palkia or Dialga in their Origin Form and catch either of them using the Origin Ball.
Once the game’s main story is done, the player must complete the post-game missions and the ‘Seeking the Remaining Plates’ Mission. This is the 26th and penultimate mission in the game, where the player must defeat Volo and Giratina and obtain the Azure Flute.
The Incarnate Forces of Hisui
To start this request, enter the Galaxy Hall in the northern part of Jubilife Village, where Cogita will approach the player and, after a few bits of dialogue about Volo, she will say that the Hisui region still has fascinating Pokemon like the three Forces of Nature. By selecting the Pokemon on the prompt, Cogita will describe them and where to find them.
If Tornadus is selected on the prompt, Tornadus, according to Cogita, causes great storms in whatever direction it flies. When there is a blizzard in the Alabaster Icelands, Tornadus may be nearby.
Select “I’m done, thanks” on the prompt, and Cogita will reply that she has no idea why these Pokemon have not shown themselves, maybe because of the space-time rifts or their desires. Finally, Cogita will ask that the player see her after completing the Pokedex entries for Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus. After that, the “Incarnate Forces of Hisui” Request has begun!
Finally, Tornadus
The player can face Tornadus by heading to Bonechill Wastes near the middle of the map of the Alabaster Icelands. Tornadus can be found here at any time of day, although it is only present when there is a blizzard/snowstorm. If there is no blizzard/snowstorm, the player can just rest at any of the Base Camps in the Alabaster Icelands until nightfall several times and wait until a blizzard/snowstorm spawns in the area (depicted as an icon with a snowflake with the wind in the top right corner of the map). Once a blizzard/snowstorm is active, head to the area to find a Pokemon covered by a tornado, Tornadus.
Next, upon finding Tornadus and if it has been alerted of the player’s presence, it will move around quickly and attack the player by releasing a bunch of tornadoes. To avoid that, the player can use Stealth Spray or Smoke Bombs to get closer to Tornadus slowly.
After that, once the player is within throwing distance, the tornado that covers Tornadus must be destroyed before the player can throw a Pokemon to battle it. To destroy its tornado barriers, throw some Spoiled Apricorns, Snow Balls, Sticky Globs, or Balls of Mud at it to remove the tornado three times and stun it. Then, quickly throw one of your Pokemon to battle it. This is now your chance to catch the legendary Tornadus!
Battling Tornadus
A reliable way to catch Tornadus or even other Pokemon, is to weaken it and inflict status conditions before throwing a Poke Ball. The player will face a Level 70 Tornadus, a Flying-type Pokemon which, again, has a weakness to Electric-type, Ice-type, and Rock-type moves (super effective), a resistance to Bug-type, Fighting-type, and Grass-type moves (not very effective), and immunity to Ground-type moves (no effect).
Tornadus will use its signature move, Bleakwind Storm, a Flying-type that may also inflict Frostbite on its target Pokemon. Aside from that, Tornadus may also use Crunch, a Dark-type move, Extrasensory, a Psychic-type move, and Hurricane, a Flying-type move. It is recommended to use Pokemon that are Level 70 and higher with a type that can resist Flying-type moves like Electric-type, Rock-type, and Steel-type Pokemon.
If Tornadus is accidentally defeated, the player can reset the map by returning to Jubilife Village and heading back to Bonechill Wastes in the Alabaster Icelands. There Tornadus will be roaming around again.
Now that the player has caught the Legendary Pokemon Tornadus, the player can use it to complete post-game missions, accomplish requests, or even face and catch the other Forces of Nature!
Finishing the Request
Now that you have caught Tornadus, which is the whole point of this guide, you might as well complete the “Incarnate Forces of Hisui” request! To complete this request, the player must catch Landorus, Thundurus, and Tornadus and complete their research entries in the Pokedex!
As Tornadus has already been caught, the next thing to do is to complete the Pokedex entry for Tornadus by accomplishing Research Tasks to reach Research Level 10. The Research Tasks to accomplish depends on Tornadus’s moves while battling it.
However, if there aren’t any check marks in Tornadus’ Pokedex entry except for the “Number caught” Research Task, then the player can immediately complete Tornadus’ Pokedex entry by using Tornadus’ Bleakwind Storm in Agile Style three times.
Landorus
You can encounter Landorus on Ramanas Island, southwest of the Obsidian Fieldlands. A tornado covers him on the island, and you can find him in every weather condition.
Like Tornadus, Landorus will move quickly and attack by releasing tornadoes. The player can do the same to get close to Landorus and destroy its tornado barriers.
The player will face a Level 70 Landorus, which is a Ground and Flying-type Pokemon, so it is weak (super effective) to Water-type and especially Ice-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Bug-type, Fighting-type, and Poison-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Ground-type moves.
After catching Landorus, the player must complete their Pokedex entry. The player can immediately complete Landorus’ Pokedex entry using Sandsear Storm in Agile Style three times.
Thundurus
Thundurus is in the waters just ahead of the two stone pillars near the “middle finger” of Sand’s Reach. This is in the southeastern part of the Cobalt Coastlands. A tornado also covers this Pokemon and can be found here during a thunderstorm.
Like the other Forces of Nature, Thundurus will also move around quickly and attack by releasing tornadoes if it notices the player. You can take the same actions to approach Thundurus and eliminate its tornado barriers.
The player will face a Level 70 Thundurus, an Electric and Flying-type Pokemon. Hence, it is weak (super effective) to Ice-type and Rock-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Bug-type, Grass-type, Fighting-type, Flying-type, and Steel-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Ground-type moves.
After catching Thundurus, the player must complete their Pokedex entry. The player can quickly complete Thundurus’ Pokedex entry using Wildbolt Storm in Agile Style three times.
Back to Cogita
After catching Landorus, Thundurus, and Tornadus and completing their Pokedex entries, return to the Ancient Retreat and talk to Cogita. After a few bits of dialogue, Enamorus will appear, which Cogita will say is hailed as the Herald of Spring.
While Enamorus is not prone to bad behavior, she believes the player wants to record it for the Pokedex. She will then explain that if the player wishes to capture it, he can find Enamorus in the Crimson Mirelands.
Enamorus
Enamorus is in Scarlet Bog of the Crimson Mirelands. You can find this Pokemon in every weather condition, but a tornado barrier also covers it.
The Herald of Spring will also move around quickly and attack by releasing tornadoes once alerted. Enamorus is harder to sneak on because it is easily alerted. Its tornadoes are harder to dodge as they can confuse, plus the bog in the area will slow the player down. A quick way to overcome confusion is to press the + button to ride your rideable Pokemon. The same actions can be done to destroy Enamorus’ tornado barriers.
Enamorus is a Level 70 Fairy and Flying-type Pokemon. Hence, it is weak (super effective) to Electric-type, Ice-type, Poison-type, Rock-type, and Steel-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Dark-type, Grass-type, and especially Bug-type and Fighting-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Dragon-type and Ground-type moves.
Then, the player must complete Enamorus’ Pokedex entry. This can be done by using Springtide Storm in Agile Style three times.
Request End
After all, return to Cogita in the Ancient Retreat, and talk to her. After a few bits of dialogue, Cogita will give the player the Reveal Glass. This item can change Landorus’, Thundurus’, Tornadus’, and Enamorus’ forms.
Finally, the “Incarnate Forces of Hisui” Request is completed, and the player will receive four Exp. Candy L, for your efforts!
