One of Pokemon Legends: Arceus‘ goals is to make a popular line from the franchise, “Gotta catch ’em all,” come to fruition. The player is joining the Survey Corps, which is in charge of learning everything there is to know about the Pokemon of the ancient Hisui region.
Furthermore, the legendary Arceus will task the player with meeting every Pokemon found throughout the region. As a result, the player must be acquainted with every Pokemon in the game.
This guide will discuss everything you need to know about Croagunk!
Croagunk
Croagunk, the 99th Pokemon in the Hisuian Pokedex, is a Poison and Fighting-type Toxic Mouth Pokemon that has a dark blue body that resembles a dart frog, a pair of yellow eyes with small black pupils, black markings around its eyes, a pair of orange pouches on its cheeks, a wide mouth with white, flat teeth, a pair of arms with black forearms and three fingers on each hand with the middle finger colored orange, a black marking around its upper chest, white bandages around its chest, a pair of legs with black feet and three toes on each foot.
According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Croagunk has poison and a wicked personality, but, despite that, it is popular because of its unique cry and comical features.
Basic Information
Croagunk is a Poison and Fighting-type Pokemon that is weak (super effective) to Ground-type, Flying-type, and especially Psychic-type moves and resistant (not very effective) to Bug-type and, especially, Dark-type, Fighting-type, Grass-type, Poison-type, and Rock-type moves.
Croagunk’s base stats are 48 HP, 61 Attack, 40 Defense, 61 Special Attack, 40 Special Defense, and 50 Speed, for a total 300.
Croagunk can be evolved to a Toxicroak once it reaches Level 37.
Croagunk’s favorite foods include Springy Mushrooms, Dazzling Honey, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans. Croagunk, in addition to berries, can be enticed or fed with these foods, allowing it to be caught or battled while it is unaware.
When a Croagunk is captured or defeated in the wild, it drops a Tumblestone and a Ball of Mud, both of which are given to the player.
Location
To find a Croagunk, the player can head to these locations:
In the Crimson Mirelands: northwest of Gapejaw Bog, in Scarlet Bog, and northwest of Holm of Trials.
In the Coronet Highlands: in Ancient Quarry
Croagunk can be found in these locations at all times of the day and in every weather condition.
Additionally, there is a chance that the player may find a group of Croagunks in Massive Mass Outbreaks in the Crimson Mirelands.
Research Tasks
The following are the Research Tasks in Croagunk’s Pokedex entry:
Multiplier | Research Task | Objectives |
x2 | Number caught | 1/2/4/10/15 |
Number defeated | 1/3/8/20/40
x2 | Number you have defeated with Psychic type moves | 1/2/5/10/20 |
Times you have seen it use Mud Bomb | 1/3/6/12/25
Times you have scared it off with a Scatter Bang | 1/2/3/45
Number of different forms you have obtained | 2
x2 | Number you have evolved | 1 |
x2 | Investigated Croagunk poison’s medicinal properties | 1 |
A Research Task objective with an x2 multiplier can be performed to gain two Research Levels, and a Research Task objective without an x2 multiplier can be fulfilled to gain one Research Level. A Pokemon’s Pokedex entry has to attain Research Level 10 to be considered complete.
Completing Pokedex entries and completing Research Task objectives will give the player Research Points. If there are enough of them, the player’s Star Rank in the Galaxy Team will rise.
To quickly complete Croagunk’s Pokedex entry, the player can catch two Croagunks, then defeat three more with at least two defeated using Psychic type moves. Doing these will tick the first and second objective of the “Number caught” Research Task to get four Research Levels because of its x2 multiplier, tick the first and second objective of the “Number you’ve defeated with Psychic type moves” Research Task to get four more Research Levels because of its x2 multiplier, and tick the first and second objective of the “Number defeated” Research Task to get the last two Research Levels needed to get to Research Level 10.

Relevant Request
Croagunk is involved in Request 34, called “Croagunk’s Curative Poison” Request. Completing this request will also tick the “Investigated Croagunk poison’s medicinal properties” Research Task.
To unlock this request, the player must achieve the following:
- Receive the ‘A New Mission’ mission, the ninth mission of the game and where the player must go back to Commander Kamado and report the player’s success after successfully quelling the Lady of the Ridge Liligant’s frenzy.
- Add Croaguk to the player’s Pokedex.
To start this request, go to the Galaxy Hall, proceed to Professor Laventon’s room on the left side of Captain Cyllene’s office, interact with the blackboard behind Professor Laventon, and select the ‘Croagunk’s Curative Poison’ request.
Completing the Request – Part 1
According to the request description, Captain Pesselle of the Medical Corps can create medicine using poison obtained from a Croagunk. First, exit Professor Laventon’s office and go to the Medical Corps’ office on the right side of Captain Cyllene’s office, and approach Pesselle near her desk.
Talk to Pesselle, and she will say that a member of the Diamond Clan has told her that they can make medicine by diluting Croagunk’s poison which can relieve lower back pain. She will continue that she would love to give some of that medicine to Buck, who is bedridden because of back pain.
She only needs Croagunk’s poison now that she knows how to make the medicine. So, she will ask the player to go to the Crimson Mirelands and catch one Croagunk for her.
After that, the player now has to give Captain Pesselle a Croagunk. If you already have a Croagunk that you are willing to give up, simply return to Pesselle and talk to her to give her the Croagunk. Otherwise, Croagunk, as mentioned above, can be found in Gapejaw Bog, Scarlet Bog, and Holm of Trials in the Crimson Mirelands and Ancient Quarry in the Coronet Highlands.
Croagunks are very aggressive and will attack if they see the player, so make sure you sneak up on them carefully or, worst-case scenario, be prepared to battle them. If you don’t want to go near them, Feather Balls, which have a long throwing distance, will be useful.
Completing the Request – Part 2
Next, return to Pesselle still in the Medical Corps office, talk to her, and select the Croagunk you want to give her on the prompt. It is important to note that once you have given the Croagunk to Pesselle, the player will be unable to retrieve it, so only give her the Croagunk you are happy to give up.
Once she receives a Croagunk, Pesselle asks for a smidgeon of its poison, which the Croagunk obliges. Pesselle will then begin making the medicine, which Pesselle claims is extremely effective. Then, she will say that she believes they could help more people and Pokemon if there were some sort of aid facility where Pokemon and humans worked together.
Buck, the man who was bedridden due to back pain, will scream in pain and ask for Pesselle while she is speaking. Pesselle will then come to his aid and administer the medicine she has just concocted.
Finally, the “Crogunk’s Curative Poison” Request is completed, and the player will be rewarded with three Full Heals and five Exp. Candy S.
Now that the player knows more about Croagunk, they can use it to complete missions and requests or simply catch ‘em all!
