The player in Pokemon Legends: Arceus is in the Hisui region, which will eventually be known as the Sinnoh region in the Pokemon universe. The player will join the Galaxy Expedition Team (also known as the Galaxy Team) as a member of the Survey Corps, with the primary responsibility of researching all Pokemon found in the Hisui region. To learn about Pokemon, the player must complete the first Pokedex, which can be done by catching every species of Pokemon in the region.
This guide will discuss everything you need to know about Umbreon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus!
Umbreon
Umbreon, the 30th Pokemon in the Hisuian Pokedex, is a Dark-type Moonlight Pokemon with a small body covered in black fur and yellow accents, a pair of red eyes with black pupils, a small black nose, a small mouth with four pointed teeth visible if its mouth is open, a pair of long and pointed ears that has a yellow band around them, a yellow ring on its forehead, four legs with yellow rings near the top of its legs, and a long, pointed tail with a yellow band around it similar to its ears.
According to its Pokedex entry in the game, Umbreon is the most active at night when moonlight is shining on the land. Additionally, Umbreon’s eyes can see through the darkness and perceive its prey.
Basic Information
Umbreon is a Dark-type Pokemon which means it is weak (super effective) to the Bug-type, Fairy-type, and Fighting-type moves, resistant (not very effective) to Ghost-type and Dark-type moves, and immune (no effect) to Psychic-type moves.
Umbreon’s base stats are 95 HP, 65 Attack, 110 Defense, 60 Special Attack, 130 Special Defense, and 65 Speed for a total of 525.
Umbreon evolved from an Eevee when it reached a High Friendship Level and, if chosen to develop at night (without knowing any Fairy-type moves).
A Pokemon’s Friendship Level can be increased by keeping the Pokemon in the player’s party, using the Pokemon in battle, not letting the Pokemon faint in battle, and using the Pokemon to gather materials from trees and ores.
To check your Pokemon’s Friendship Level, go to the Friendship Checker named Belamy, found a little bit south of the Pastures in the eastern part of Jubilife Village. However, it is worth noting that the Friendship Checker is not available at the start of the game.
To access the Friendship Checker, the player must complete the “Measuring Your Compatibility” Request (request 28). After that, the player can speak with Belamy and choose the Pokemon to check the Friendship Level. The following is the actual Friendship Level based on Belamy’s Description:
Friendship Level | Belamy’s Description |
Base Friendship | “[Your Pokemon] seems leery of you yet. New to the team, perhaps?” |
Low | “I suppose [your Pokemon]’s become a bit friendly toward you, but you’ve a ways to go…” |
Mid | “[Your Pokemon] seems to get on well with you. But I’m sure it could get on better!” |
High | “You and [your Pokemon] seem to be fast friends. You must be quite good companions!” |
Highest | “What an excellent pair of friends you and [your Pokemon] make. You must mean a lot to each other!” |
Evolution
The player’s Eevee must reach the High or Highest Friendship Level to evolve into an Umbreon.
Eevee can also evolve into a Jolteon by using a Thunder Stone, a Flareon by using a Fire Stone, a Vaporeon by using a Water Stone, a Glaceon when near the Ice Rock or by using an Ice Stone, a Leafeon when near the Moss Rock or by using a Leaf Stone, an Espeon when it reaches a High Friendship Level and evolved during the day (without knowing any Fairy-type moves), and a Sylveon when it reaches a High Friendship Level while knowing a Fairy-type move.

Umbreon prefers Springy Mushrooms, Hearty Grains, and Plump Beans, so throw those foods at it to distract it.
When an Umbreon is captured or defeated in the wild, it will drop a Razz Berry and a Vivichoke, which will be given to the player.
Location
Umbreon can’t be found anywhere in the wild under normal circumstances. In rare cases, Umbreon can appear inside Space-Time Distortions in the Crimson Mirelands.
Research Tasks
The following are the Research Tasks in Umbreon’s Pokedex entry:
Multiplier | Research Task | Objectives |
x2 | Number caught | 1/2/3/4/5 |
Times you have seen it use Baby-Doll Eyes | 1/2/4/10/15 | |
x2 | Times you have seen it use Dark Pulse | 1/3/8/20/40 |
x2 | Times you have seen it use an agile style move | 1/3/10/30/70 |
A Pokemon’s Pokedex entry must reach Research Level 10 to be considered fully completed. The player must complete one of the entry’s Research Tasks, which raises the entry’s Research Level. On the other hand, if the player completes a Research Task objective with a multiplier of x2, the Pokemon’s entry will gain two Research Levels instead of one.
To quickly complete Umbreon’s Pokedex entry, the player can catch one by evolving an Eevee by getting its Friendship Level to High, evolving it during the night, using it in battle, and using Dark Pulse in Agile Style three times.
These will complete the first objective of the “Number caught” Research Task to raise the Research Level to 2 thanks to its x2 multiplier; then complete the first and second objectives of the “Times you have seen it use Dark Pulse” and “Times you have seen it use an agile style move” Research Tasks to add eight more Research Levels thanks to both of their x2 multipliers, allowing it to reach Research Level 10.
