It’s been more than two years since Blizzard announced Overwatch 2, and until now, we still haven’t gotten a major update on the game, much less a release date. Interestingly, a rumor is circulating that Blizzard may optimize the Overwatch sequel to be playable on mobile.

RUMOR: Is Overwatch 2 Going to be Available for Mobile?

This comes from @BixelsWixels, who points out that character and prop designs for Overwatch 2 have been simplified, and Blizzard has recently posted up a job that is looking for a product manager for a mobile game—with Overwatch said to be one of the projects.

With Overwatch 2 expected to be a graphical improvement to the first game, this rumor is a bummer for most fans. For now, I guess the consolation is that nothing official has been announced, and we’ll just have to wait and see what Blizzard has to say about the fan speculation.

Blizzard is currently at an all-time PR low after reports have come out of their toxic work environment, and multiple games have been affected—including Overwatch. It also doesn’t help that game director Jeff Kaplan had left Blizzard after 19 years of working for the studio, further fuelling fires that the Overwatch sequel is in quite the pickle.

Fans are waiting to see what will happen with Overwatch 2. If anything, the trailers are still wonderfully animated. Let’s just hope the game is just as great.

There is no release date for Overwatch 2, but the original Overwatch is now available for PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
