With The Super Mario Bros. Movie having an insane opening weekend, many fans are confident that a sequel is already in the works, but the question is, who could be the villain in that movie? Jack Black has an idea.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie: Jack Black Wants Pedro Pascal to Play Wario

Talking to GameSpot, Black talks about possibly being in the sequel, to which he says, “It’s not a given that Bowser will return. I did a few Kung Fu Panda movies, and it was a different villain every movie. They may do the same thing,” When pitched by the interviewer if Bowser could be an ally to Mario in the sequel, Black replied:

“You know, what if there is a more powerful, more evil villain? Then I may need to be turned to help Mario and the rest to defend our universe against some other unseen force of evil. Are you thinking what I’m thinking… Wario. Pedro Pascal is Wario.”

I don’t know if Black’s casting of Pascal as Wario is serious. Still, it’s possible he could be referencing the Saturday Night Live skit where Pascal plays a gritty version of the infamous cartoon plumber.

I love the fan pitch of having Danny DeVito voice Wario, but I’m open to having someone else take on the role. Though fans love Pascal, some think they need a more cartoonish voice to be behind someone like Wario. What about a Chris-Off where Wario and Luigi are voiced by Pratt’s fellow MCU stars, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth?

I mean, it’s just a pitch.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now in theaters. Catch Pascal in The Last of Us now streaming on HBO.
