VALORANT: Best Fade Lineups on Ascent Defending

A few weeks have passed since Fade’s official debut on the VALORANT servers. In the brief time she has been out, we have had a few good games with her to explore and learn the new Initiator’s abilities and how they work.

Fade’s signature ability – Haunt – is a powerful information gathering tool that can give her team quick information on enemy locations around the map.

This article has compiled some of the best Fade lineups on Ascent you can use to help your team secure site entry and defense around the map.

How to Use Fade’s Haunt Ability?

Pressing the [E] button on your keyboard will equip Fade’s Haunt ability – a cooldown-based recon ability that can reveal and mark enemy locations exposed by its “watcher.”

Fade Haunt Ability Details:

  • Duration: 2-seconds;
  • Cooldown: 40-seconds;
  • Health: 1 HP;
  • Effects: Reveals enemies caught in the ability line of sight. Enemies caught in the line of sight will be Trailed for 12-seconds.

After Fade equips her Haunt ability, she can throw the Haunt orb towards a target location. After landing, a ‘watcher’ will spawn and linger for 2-seconds and reveal anyone along its line of sight.

Fade can opt to immediately drop the orb mid-air to activate the ‘watcher’ sooner by pressing the [E] button again.

Haunt can stick and clip onto just about any horizontal surface around maps, making Fade’s Haunt a lineup-friendly ability that can be thrown towards strategic locations for early information.

Lastly, since Haunt is a cooldown-based ability, it is best to use it early in the round so the 40-second cooldown can start counting down, which allows the user to equip Haunt again later in the round.

Fade Lineups on Ascent Defending

Fade does her best work when she is on the Attacking side. However, her site-defense prowess is nothing to scoff at as well.

Here are the Best Fade lineups for Defending A-site, Middle, and B-site on Ascent.

Ascent A-Lobby/A-Long Lineup

This simple and easy lineup from A-Tree will reveal all players standing around A-Lobby and A-Long – great for early information at the start of the round.

  1. Stand in this corner in A-Tree:

2. Look towards this wire on the wall:

3. CROUCH, then place the left ‘horn’ of the Haunt ability icon on top of the wire clip on the wall:

Ascent Middle Lineup

This lineup will reveal all of Ascent Middle, including some of Mid-Link.

For Ascent Middle, the lineup will be done from A-Tree, so if you are defending on A-site, you can get early information from either A-Lobby/A-Long or Middle with your Haunt ability.

Here is how to do it:

Fading Away

These lineups should give your team early information on the enemy team’s locations. Relay enemy positions immediately to your teammates so they can help you with site defense around Ascent.

So, there we have it! These simple lineups should help make defense around Ascent much easier for you and your teammates. Use Fade’s [E] ability early in the round to start its cooldown sequence so you can use Haunt again later in the round.
