VALORANT is a game of angles, positioning, and map control. If you are an FPS veteran, your aiming mechanics are probably as smooth as butter and refined like a well-aged bottle of wine. You will undoubtedly be fragging out with your laser-guided aim all day long in VALORANT.

VALORANT: Best Smoke Spots on Haven

However, without proper positioning and map control, you will have little chance of winning a round, let alone an entire game, against a well-coordinated team, even with your cracked aim.

Smokes are essential in almost every VALORANT game for this very reason. Smoke abilities allow teams to isolate and block off critical angles and positions around the map and help deter enemies from rushing straight into a bombsite.

With that said, here are some of the Best Smoke Spots on Haven.

When, Where, Why, and How to Smoke in VALORANT

Smokes are very easy to place and use in VALORANT, so players rarely think about where, when, and why they set their smoke utility in the first place.

When you should use your smoke utility is purely situational – depending on how the rest of the round goes, you might be forced to place a smoke somewhere unorthodox to serve a particular purpose.

The questions Where and Why you place your smokes at the beginning of the round are often predetermined. Where you place your smokes only really depends on which bombsite on which map your team chooses to attack or defend.

For the Attacking side, why you place your smoke is to reduce the enemy’s vision. On the other hand, the Defending side will smoke off lanes and angles to slow the game’s pace down.

Then there is the question of How to place smoke utilities which is covered in the article How to Use Smokes Effectively in VALORANT. You should give it a good read to give yourself the best idea of placing smokes correctly in VALORANT.

Never take smokes for granted in VALORANT. In a game where tons of angles are present in every bombsite, your team will need as much help as you can get through smokes.

Best Haven Smoke Spots in VALORANT (Attacking)

Smokes are mandatory when Attacking bombsites in VALORANT. Entering bomb sites without proper smoke utility in place can be very dangerous.

Here are the Best Haven Smoke Spots in VALORANT for the Attacking side. Smoke off these spots every round to make site entry easier for your team.

Best Haven A-site Attacking Smokes

Haven’s A-site is arguably the most difficult to attack of the three bomb sites on Haven.

However, once your team has control of Haven’s A-site, it is almost impossible for Defenders to retake the site successfully due to the entrances towards the A-site being a chokepoint.

For Haven A-site, there are only three spots that enemies might be holding from on-site: A-Heaven, A-Tunnel, and A-Hell. Smoke off these spots with any of the available Controller Agents in VALORANT, and your team will be waltzing towards A-site control with ease.

On post-plant, simply re-smoking the same spots will help pressure and delay the rotating Defenders, which might bait them into mindlessly running onto the site – easy kills for you and your teammates.

Best Haven B-site Attacking Smokes

There is only one direct way into B-site, and that is through the Middle Courtyard. To secure your team’s entry into Haven’s B-site, you must smoke both A-Link and C-Link.

Smoking off “Gong” or B-Backsite is also a must to block off any Defender’s vision on your team while planting the Spike. (Brimstone is the only Agent who can smoke all three spots simultaneously)

Keep in mind the attacking smoke placement tips mentioned in the article How to Use Smokes Effectively in VALORANT to maximize the value of your smokes.

Post-plant can be tricky to play from inside B-site itself, so it might be best to play from Middle Courtyard by planting the Spike for Middle Courtyard.

Best Haven C-site Attacking Smokes

Haven’s C-site can be a bit tricky to enter for the Attacking team, and there is nothing else to blame but the long alley towards C-site – C-Long.

C-Long is a funnel for Defenders since aiming down a predictable and narrow strait is pretty easy in VALORANT.

Upon entry into C-site, the left and right corners are equally dangerous to add insult to injury. They are usually home to Judge-loving VALORANT players with a thirst for shotgun multi-kills.

Your team can worry about checking C-site’s corners once you are on-site, though – your team must make it onto site first. Smoking off Logs, the gap between Platform and Default, and Garage connector (you can smoke all three by yourself with Brimstone) should do the trick.

Remember, your goal is to plant the Spike and defend it from the Defending team on post-plant, so use these smokes to plant it as quickly as possible.

Best Haven Smoke Spots in VALORANT (Defending)

Smokes are equally crucial for the Defending side in VALORANT.

Without Defensive smokes, Attackers will have a free one-way ticket into your team’s bomb sites. With three to defend around Haven, your team will have difficulty defending an Attacker rush.

Smoke off these spots on Defense to slow down and deter an enemy team rush into your bomb site.

Best Haven A-site Defensive Smokes

There are only two direct entryways into Haven A-site – A-Long and A-Short/Sewer.

You can not go wrong with a smoke placement at A-Long and A-Short, as a simple smoke on these spots are enough to stop, stall, or force the enemy team to weather the smoke, push through it, or rotate to another bombsite.

The smoke placement matters a lot here, though, so place the smokes as deep as possible in A-Long and A-Short so you can see the enemy team as soon they cross your smokes (if they do).

Best Haven B-site Defensive Smokes

For Haven B-site, a simple Middle Window smoke should be enough to make the Attacking team think twice about taking more space towards Middle Courtyard, let alone B-site.

image 602

You can allocate the rest of your smoke charges for a C-Garage smoke to reinforce that area.

Without Middle Window and Garage control, the Attacking team will be forced to try and take a different bombsite altogether.

Best Haven C-site Defensive Smokes

Haven’s C-Long is already a narrow strait that can easily be covered with a single smoke charge. Once again, consider smoking deep into C-Long to deter Attackers from taking more space towards C-site.

image 604

Smoking off the entrance of the C-site is not ideal as it gives the Attacking team control of C-Long and C-Cubby. They might even catch you off-guard within C-site with their numbers once your smoke wears off, so you might want to keep that in mind.

Simple But Effective Smokes

Using smoke utility in VALORANT is a pretty straightforward affair when you think about it. However, a few nuances can alter the effectiveness of essential smoke placements around maps and can be a game-changer in how rounds are played within a match.

Fortunately, the smokes we featured in this article are foolproof and can help your team as long as you use them every round.

These smoke placements do not have to be perfect to be effective, as they will help with Attacking and Defending around Haven regardless. Taking your time and exerting a little effort to optimize placement to maximize your smoke’s value will help a lot, though, so you might want to consider doing that every round.
