Some time has passed since the initial release of Destiny 2. Since the release, which was back in 2017, the game has evolved quite a lot. However, while the game has fundamentally evolved, has anything changed in terms of which platforms support Destiny 2? Mac users have often been overlooked when it comes to games, but is that the case with Destiny 2, can you play it on a Mac? We set out to find that out!
Can You Play Destiny 2 On A Mac
Despite the general consensus that the game was only available on PlayStation, and that it was a ‘PS Special’, that is not the case. Straight out of the gate, since the release of the game, it was made available on quite a few platforms.
Maybe that’s the picture that the players got just because Destiny 2 exercises the biggest player base on PlayStation. Whatever the case might be, with the new DLCs getting released on a regular basis, there are still some people that are looking to get into Destiny 2.
Unfortunately, Destiny 2 cannot be played on a Mac. In fact, Destiny 2 is available only on the following platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Google Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series S & X, Windows, & Xbox Gaming Cloud.
Games of this caliber usually get tweaked so they can be run on Mac, using software like Wine, however, that is not the case with Destiny.
The main reason as to why it isn’t available on Wine or any other virtulization software is because of its online nature. As you might know, Destiny 2 is purely online, and cannot be played without an internet connection.
So, to make that work on programs such as Wine and Parallels becomes an issue. Not to mention how big the actual game itself is.
Whatever the case may be, there is a way to play Destiny 2 on a Mac, and that is by using the Nvidia GeForce Now, which is a streaming service. There will be some latency, but that is a small price to pay if you want to play Destiny 2 on a Mac.
