One of the Shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the Kah Mael Shrine or the Drop And Rise. This shrine requires Link to manipulate a weighing scale kind of platform using a metal block and a metal barrel to reach the shrine’s altar. This shrine may seem intimidating, but it is insanely easy. In this guide, you will learn how to complete the Kah Mael Shrine and get the chest.
Link will be rewarded with Spirit Orbs for completing Shrines. The Spirit Orbs obtained can be exchanged for more Heart Containers or Stamina Vessels. As there are 120 Shrines all over Hyrule, Link can get a total of 120 Spirit Orbs. You get to decide whether you want Link to have more Hearts or more Stamina.
Location
The Kah Mael Shrine or the Drop and Rise is located on an island in the far eastern part of the whole map of Hyrule called Tingel Island (east of Kaepora Pass, Lake Akkala, and Tarrey Town). The Kah Mael Shrine is one of nine shrines in the Lanayru Tower region.
Upon reaching Tingel Island, you will find that the Kah Mael Shrine is inside the island, which can be accessed through a hole in the floor that is hidden and blocked by a large slate. To access the shrine, you can either: activate the Stasis Rune ability on the large slate and hit it with a weapon as much as you can to “throw” it away or hold and drop an Octo Balloon on the large slate to attach to it and float away.
Drop and Rise
Before descending on the Keh Mael Shrine, make sure that Link has a bow and a few arrows equipped, and he has the Magnesis Rune ability.
Upon entering Kah Mael Shrine, you will see a weighing scale type platform with the left side down, a metal barrel on top, and the right side up. The monk and the altar are at the top of an elevated platform on the left, another elevated platform on the right, and a metal block held up by a wooden platform that is held up by ropes. To complete this shrine, this is what Link must do:
- After entering Kah Mael Shrine, proceed and get on the weighing scale type platform on the left that is all the way down. Then, aim and fire arrows on the rope holding the metal block just above the platform on the opposite side.
- After breaking the ropes on both sides of the wooden platform, the metal block will drop on the weighing scale type platform on the opposite side which will result in the platform that Link is on to quickly rise up (hence the shrine’s title) and throw Link into the air. At the peak of Link’s “jump”, glide towards the elevated platform on the right side of the shrine where you will see a chest. Open the chest to claim a Diamond. If you miss the platform, use the Magnesis Rune ability to raise the metal block and drop it on the same platform to try again.
- Next, drop down on the weighing scale type platform on the right which is now all the way down.
- After that, press the up directional button and select the Magnesis Rune ability. Then, press L and aim the Magnesis Rune ability on the metal block and press A to activate Magnesis on it. Then, use the Magnesis Rune ability to bring the metal block above the weighing scale type platform on the left, which is now raised all the way up.
- Then, raise the metal block as high above that platform as you can and let go of the metal block to drop it on the platform which will again cause the platform that Link is on to quickly rise up and throw Link into the air. At the peak of Link’s “jump”, glide again but this time towards the elevated platform on the left with the altar and the monk.
- After landing on the platform, proceed to the altar, talk to the monk and claim your Spirit Orb.
As mentioned above, the Kah Mael Shrine or the Drop and Rise is one of the nine shrines in the Lanayru Tower region. The other shrines are the Rucco Maag Shrine or the Five Flames, Kaya Wan Shrine or the Shields From Water, Soh Kofi Shrine or A Minor Test of Strength, Dagah Keek Shrine or Dagah Keek’s Blessing, Ne’ez Yohma Shrine or the Pushing Power, Daka Tuss Shrine or the Sunken Scoop, Shai Yota Shrine or Shai Yota’s Blessing, and the Sheh Rata Shrine or the Speed of Light.
