Razor is a mysterious and agile Wolf Boy who lives among the wolves of Wolvendom, away from human civilization. The wolves took in Razor as part of their “Lupical”—a word the boy was taught by someone else, which means family.
Razor lived a simple life in the wild until a man came to the mountains and disrupted his peace. Seeing this man caused Razor to think of how different he is from his lupine siblings. This unknown man gave Razor his name and taught him a couple of things, including how to swing a sword.
How Razor got his Electro Vision is one of the memories he wishes he could forget. When an Abyss Mage ambushed him, the wolf pack was defeated protecting him. While helplessly watching his companions being harmed, Razor let out an almighty roar, and lightning-like power grew inside him. An overload of elemental energy then flowed within Razor, and he then raised his weapon to defeat the enemy with a wild, unfettered frenzy of Electro energy.
Razor was too late and was not able to save his companions. With the help of his new master—The Witch of Purple Rose, Razor studied human knowledge to improve his skill in using his Vision. He silently promised himself to become the strongest to protect his Lupical.
Story Quest Summary: The Meaning of Lupical – Lupus Minor Chapter: Act I
This quest will be your first encounter with Razor in Wolvendom, where he will save you from countless giant slimes that are closing in on you and Paimon.
Razor was suspected as a member of the wolf pack that attacked the people of Springvale. Upon thorough investigation, you are led to Wolvendom, and there you will find out that Razor and his pack are innocent and that a black wolf and its pack are the ones behind the attack.
During an argument with some people who insisted on apprehending Razor, Boreas the Wolf of the North gets disturbed. You would then have Razor as one of your team members and engage in a fierce battle with the Wolf of the North.
This quest is also the requirement to unlock this world boss and for you to be able to challenge it anytime you want.
How to Get Razor
Razor is a 4-star character that has been added as a permanent 4-star item in all wish banners. With Primogems, Acquaint Fates, and Intertwined Fates, you can make wishes on the Standard and Character Event Wish Banners to get Razor. The best time to make wishes on the banner is when Razor is one of the featured characters because your chances of getting him are higher by then.
Two 4-star characters will also be available in Paimon’s Bargains shop, and a copy of the said characters can be obtained in exchange for 34 Masterless Starglitters. Every month, the featured characters are changed, and Razor is one of them. If you have enough Masterless Starglitter and want to get Razor, check this shop first.

Party Role: Main Damage Dealer or DPS (Damage per Second) Character
Razor is designed to be the primary damage dealer of the team, and his kit even encourages you to keep him on the field at all times. He deals with a lot of Physical damage bonus, and his Electro elemental skill and burst can be considered a utility to boost his damage.
The wolf boy’s constellations will further boost his DPS capabilities, making him one of the best characters for the role.
Team Composition
When the Electro element is applied to opponents affected by the Cryo element, or vice versa, a Superconduct Elemental Reaction is triggered. Superconduct reduces the target’s physical resistance by 40% for 12 seconds.
Cryo characters like Qiqi, Rosaria, and Kaeya are a good pair for Razor to trigger a Superconduct elemental reaction and increase Razor’s damage to the opponents.
Please note that Chongyun is never a good partner for Razor because Chongyun’s ice field will infuse Cryo onto Razor’s weapon, rendering his Physical damage stat useless since the attacks will be converted to deal elemental damage.
Talents and Play Style
Combat Talents
Normal Attack: Steel Fang
This talent allows Razor to perform up to four consecutive strikes.
A charged attack can be made by holding this talent’s attack button, where Razor will perform a continuous spinning attack against surrounding opponents. When the button is released or if Razor’s Stamina has all been used up, the spinning attack will end with a more powerful slash.
If Razor is jumping or gliding, pressing this button mid-air will have him perform a plunging attack. He will strike the ground below, damaging the opponents along the path and dealing AoE damage upon impact.
Elemental Skill: Claw and Thunder
Razor uses this technique when hunting his prey, and it was taught to him by his master and his lupical.
Pressing this talent button will have Razor swing the Thunder Wolf Claw to deal Electro Damage to opponents in front of him. If the attack hits an opponent, Razor will gain an Electro Sigil that increases his Energy Recharge Rate. Up to three Electro Sigils can be gained simultaneously, and gaining a new one will refresh the Sigil’s duration.
If you choose to hold the button when casting this elemental skill, Razor will charge up to gather Electro energy and then unleash a lightning storm over a small area of effect around him. The storm will deal Electro damage and clear all of Razor’s Electro Sigils to convert them into Elemental Energy for Razor.
Elemental Burst: Lightning Fang
Razor’s elemental burst allows him to summon the Wolf Within and deal Electro damage to all nearby enemies. For 15 seconds, the Wolf Within will strike Electro attacks together with Razor’s regular attacks but will disable his charged attacks.
In the duration of this elemental burst, Razor’s attack speed, resistance to interruption, and resistance to Electro will be increased. He will also be immune to damage inflicted by the Electro-Charged elemental reaction status.
Using Lightning Fang will clear all of Razor’s Electro Sigil and convert them into Elemental Energy for him. However, the talent and all these effects will end once Razor leaves the field, but a certain amount of Elemental Energy will be returned to him.
Electro Sigils serve as a battery for Razor, given that the Energy cost of his elemental burst is 80 Energies. To maximize the sigil and have his elemental burst talent ready most of the time, you need to gain the maximum amount for Electro Sigils first before hold-casting Claw and Thunder or using Lightning Fang to get the maximum elemental energy possible.
Passive Talents
Awakening
This passive talent will be unlocked on Razor’s first ascension. It decreases the cool-down time of his elemental skill Claw and Thunder, by 18%. With this talent unlocked, every time Razor uses his elemental burst, Lightning Fang, the cooldown of Claw and Thunder will be reset.
Hunger
The passive talent hunger will be unlocked on Razor’s fourth ascension at level 60. With this, Razor will increase his energy recharge rate by 30% every time his Energy goes below 50%.
Despite having a high energy cost for his elemental burst, these two passive talents will help allow Razor to spam Claw and Thunder to dish out more damage.
Wolvensprint
This one is Razor’s default passive talent, and it is very helpful for the entire party when exploring. Wolvensprint decreases the sprinting Stamina consumption of Razor’s party by 20%. However, this effect cannot be stacked with other passive talents that provide the same effects.
Constellation: Lupus Minor
Constellation Level 1: Wolf’s Instinct
With this constellation level unlocked, every time Razor picks up an elemental orb or particle; his damage will be increased by 10% for 8 seconds.
To easily trigger this effect, use Razor’s elemental skill first and let him pick up the elemental energy particle before using his elemental burst to boost its damage.
Constellation Level 2: Suppression
Razor’s constellation level 2 will increase his Critical Rate by 10% against opponents with less than 30% HP remaining.
Constellation Level 3: Soul Companion
If you have unlocked Razor’s constellation level 3, the Soul Companion, the level of his elemental burst talent will be increased by 3, and its maximum level will be upgraded from 10 to 15.
Constellation Level 4: Bite
Getting four more copies of Razor will unlock his fourth constellation level called Bite. With this, when you use Razor’s Claw and Thunder by pressing the button, opponents hit by the elemental skill will decrease their defense by 15% for 7 seconds.
Constellation Level 5: Sharpened Claws
Sharpened Claws is the 5th level of Lupus Minor, and unlocking it will increase the level of Razor’s Claw and Thunder by 3. The elemental skill will also be upgraded to have a maximum level of 15 instead of the original 10.
Constellation Level 6: Lupus Fulguris
Razor’s final constellation level is called Lupus Fulguris, and it will grant a special buff through his weapon. With this unlocked, Razor’s claymore will charge up every 10 seconds so that the next normal attack will release a lightning strike that deals 100% of Razor’s ATK as Electro Damage.
When Razor is not using Lightning Fang, a lightning strike on an opponent grants Razor an Electro Sigil for Claw and Thunder.
How to Build Razor
Priority: Physical Damage
Since Razor is a DPS character, you need to build stats for him that will increase his overall damage output. That means you need to have at least 2,000 ATK, a decent Critical Rate of around 60%, and a lot of Critical Damage.
Despite being an Electro Vision owner and having an elemental skill and elemental burst that deal Electro damage, this element can be neglected in Razor’s equipment. Razor’s playstyle focuses on making a lot of normal attacks, and even when the Lightning Fang talent is active, Razor still has to make normal attacks, and each hit deals Physical damage thus, his Physical Damage stat should be a priority.
Razor’s special ascension stat is also his Physical Damage Bonus, which means going for a Physical Build is the best option.
Weapon: Claymore
Among the weapons that are currently available in Genshin Impact, the most versatile one that works well with Razor is Wolf’s Gravestone. However, since it is a 5-star claymore that can only be obtained from the wish banners, getting one could be very difficult.
For a Free-to-Play option, you can craft either the Prototype Archaic or the Snow-Tombed Starsilver for Razor.

Artifacts for Razor
Pale Flame
This artifact will give a 25% Physical Damage bonus when two pieces are equipped. With four pieces, aside from the 25% Physical damage bonus, when an elemental skill hits an opponent, the character’s ATK is increased by 9% for 7 seconds. This effect can be stacked up to 2 times, and when two stacks are reached, the 2-piece set effect will be increased by 100% or doubled, giving a total of 50% Physical damage bonus.
Bloodstained Chivalry
The 2-piece set of the Bloodstained Chivalry artifact also gives a 25% Physical Damage bonus to the character. When paired with another 2-piece set of the Pale Flame artifact, it will give Razor a 50% Physical Damage bonus without the need to meet any condition or trigger an effect.
Gladiator’s Finale
Aside from the 18% ATK bonus of its 2-piece set, using four pieces of the Gladiator’s Finale will grant a 35% damage boost to Razor’s normal attacks because he uses a claymore.
Shimenawa’s Reminiscence
The 2-piece set of this artifact also gives an 18% ATK bonus to the character. With the 4-piece set equipped, if Razor has 15 or more energy when he casts his Claw and Thunder, he will lose 15 energy. At the same time, however, his normal, charged, and plunging attacks will have a damage bonus of 50% for 10 seconds.
While utilizing the effects of the Electro Sigils when playing as Razor, it will also trigger the effect of the 4-piece set of this artifact.
Echoes of an Offering
The 2-piece set of this artifact, like the two above, gives an 18% ATK bonus. If a 4-piece set is equipped, when normal character attacks hit opponents, there is a 36% chance that it will trigger the Valley Rite buff. This buff will increase the normal attack damage by 70% of the character’s ATK.
With Razor’s playstyle focusing on throwing a lot of normal attacks, utilizing the effect of the 4-piece set of Echoes of an Offering artifact is not a problem.
2-Piece Artifact Sets Combined
Since farming for artifacts will take you time and a lot of Resin, getting the perfect set is never easy. However, you can always check the ones you already have and see what works for Razor.
The Gladiator’s Finale, Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, Echoes of an Offering, and Vermillion Hereafter give an 18% ATK bonus with its 2-piece sets, which can be paired with the 2-piece set of either Pale Flame or Bloodstained Chivalry.
Artifact Main Stats
Since you need to increase Razor’s Physical damage, be sure to equip him with a Goblet of Eonothem that has a main stat of Physical Damage Bonus. For the Circlet of Logos, you can choose Critical Rate if your Razor has less than 50%; otherwise, use one with Critical Damage.
Ascension Materials
When leveling Razor up to the maximum level, you will need to ascend him multiple times, and to do this, you need ascension materials. Below are the items you need to gather or farm to ascend our innocent wolf boy.
Lightning Prism
A prism that channels flowing energies and weaves them into lightning. This item is obtained when you defeat the Electro Hypostasis.
Wolfhook
A Wolfhook is a berry with thorns that often gets attached to a wolf’s pelt. It is a Mondstadt local specialty and can only be found growing around Wolvendom.
Damaged, Stained, and Ominous Masks
These are masks worn by different types of hilichurls and drop when you defeat them. The Stained and the Ominous ones can be crafted via the crafting bench in the city.
Vajrada Amethyst Slivers, Fragments, Chunks, and Gemstones
These are the Electro-type mineral crystals that you can get from Electro-type boss enemies. It can also be purchased from the city jewelry or souvenir shops and crafting.
Talent Level-Up Materials
Building a character includes increasing the level of their combat talents, and each level will require certain items as materials for the leveling up process.
Aside from Mora and hilichurl masks, you will also need a few of Dvalin’s Claw if you want Razor to master his combat talents.
Dvalin’s Claw is a claw from the Dragon of the East. It is an item you can obtain when you defeat the Stormterror and use Resins to open the Leyline crop that will appear.
The talent books you will need to level up Razor’s combat talents are the ones of the “Resistance” series, which you can collect by completing the challenge in the Forsaken Rift Domain of Mastery: Frozen Abyss in Mondstadt.
These books include the Teachings of Resistance, Guide to Resistance, and the Philosophies of Resistance. The last two can be crafted using the crafting bench in the town.
