Noelle is a maid of the Knights of Favonius who aims to one day don the honored armor as an official knight of the guild. Thanks to her helpful nature, many in Mondstadt know Noelle, and despite her skill not being enough for her to pass the rigorous selection trials, she continues to work hard and train.

How to Play Noelle in Genshin Impact

Noelle has always dreamed of being a Knight of Favonius, and when she failed her seventh selection test a few years ago, she felt somewhat discouraged. The etiquette, swordsmanship, the lines, the strong points of every official knight – Noelle put them to heart, but she still failed. She has wondered if all her hard work had gone to waste.

noelle 004

She was exhausted. Her body refused to let her get back on her feet, but Noelle never stopped aspiring to be a Knight of Favonius. At that moment, Acting Grand Master Jean, who was in charge of the selection process, walked out of the Knights’ Headquarters, and without a thought, Noelle gave a precise knight’s salute. Master Jean stopped in her tracks and returned the salute.

The day that Noelle received recognition from the Knights and the gods, a Geo Vision appeared on her hand. From then on, Noelle reaffirmed her belief that she would be able to don the armor and become a Knight of Favonius one day.

How to Get Noelle

Noelle is a permanent 4-star character you can get by wishing on any Wish Banner. A special Wish Banner will be available if your account is new, called the Beginners’ Wish Banner. In this banner, you can make a batch of 10 wishes using only 8 Acquaint Fates, and Noelle is the feature character in it. This means a higher chance of obtaining Noelle from this banner.

noelle 005

You can make wishes on the Standard and Character Event Wish Banners to get Noelle, but the best time to make wishes is when Noelle is one of the 4-star characters featured on the Character Wish banner. To know more about obtaining characters in Genshin Impact, please see our guide on the topic here.

noelle 006

The easiest guaranteed way to unlock the constellations of Noelle is to save up on Masterless Starglitters and exchange 34 of them for one character item: Noelle from Paimon’s Bargains shop. But this shop will only have two characters available each month, and these characters are randomly selected.

Team Role and Party Composition

Geo DPS

noelle 008

Like every character in Genshin Impact, you can have the choice to build Noelle as a DPS character or one that is the primary damage dealer of the team. Noelle can tank all opponents, even the boss-type enemies,, with her shield on. When she uses her elemental burst, her normal and charged attacks are converted to Geo elemental attacks, making her a good choice for your Geo DPS party member.

Support: Healer and Shield-Maker

noelle 013

As a shielder or shield-maker, you have to have Noelle cast her elemental skill and then switch to another character. A shield will protect that character.

noelle 007

With Breastplate’s shield on, Noelle can also heal her entire party. To learn more about how Noelle’s heal works, please see our guide on the topic by clicking this link.

Geo attacks can trigger the Crystallize Elemental Reaction and create elemental shards. Picking up the shards will create an elemental shield for that character, which is an excellent way to provide shields to the team in co-op play. However, the shield’s strength is created by elemental shards scales based on the Elemental Mastery of the character who triggered the Crystallized reaction.

Talents and Play Styles

Combat Talents

Normal Attack: Favonius Bladework – Maid

Consecutively pressing the button for this talent will have Noelle perform up to four consecutive heavy strikes.

noelle 009

When the button is held, Noelle performs a charged attack by continuously spinning to deal damage to all nearby opponents. When Stamina is all used up or if the button is released, the sequence ends with Noelle performing a more powerful slash.

noelle 010

Using this talent while Noelle is gliding or jumping from a certain level makes her perform a plunging attack from mid-air to strike the ground below. This will damage opponents along the path and deal AOE damage within a small area upon impact.

Attacks by claymore users have greater damage but are pretty slow compared to sword and polearm users. If you do not mind draining HP while in combat, you can make a charged attack because it can do more hits in a shorter period.

Elemental Skill: Breastplate

noelle 011

Using this talent will have Noelle summon a protective stone armor and deal with Geo damage to the surrounding enemies. The damage absorption of the shield scales based on Noelle’s Defense and possesses a 150% damage absorption efficiency against all Elemental and Physical damage.

noelle 012

This talent further makes Noelle a good support character. Whenever a shield created by Breastplate is active, Noelle’s hit against opponents has a certain chance to regenerate HP for all characters. The amount of HP healed when regeneration is triggered scales based on Noelle’s Defense.

It is better to have a shield from the breastplate in combat for both a DPS and a Support-type Noelle. This protects Noelle from taking damage from opponents and increases her and her team’s HP. You can also make the spinning charged attack, and it will still trigger the HP regeneration effect of Breastplate.

Elemental Burst: Sweeping Time

noelle 014

When this talent is used, Noelle gathers the strength of stone around her weapon and strikes the opponents surrounding her with an attack that deals Geo damage. Her weapon will then be infused with Geo so that her attacks will deal Geo Damage. Noelle’s attacks also have a larger AOE, and she gets an increased ATK bonus that scales based on her Defense.

After casting this talent, make sure to keep Noelle on the field and have her make normal or charged attacks to utilize the Geo attack she can do. Also, in this state, hitting opponents affected by Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, and Electro will trigger the Crystallize elemental reaction and drop an elemental shard. If you pick up these shards, an elemental shield will be created around your active character.

Passive Talents

Devotion

Noelle’s first passive talent can help prevent your active character from falling or dying. With this passive, when Noelle is in the party but not on the field and the active character’s HP falls below 30%, a shield will be automatically created to protect that character.

The said shield lasts for 20 seconds and can absorb damage equal to 400% of Noelle’s Defense. It also is 150% effective in absorbing all elemental and physical damages.

Nice and Clean

This passive talent allows Noelle’s elemental skill to decrease its cool-down time by 1 second for every four normal or charged attack hits that Noelle scores on opponents.

Unlocking Nice and Clean is an excellent way to let Noelle cast more shields, providing more protection to herself and the active character. This effect can be maximized by continuously hitting opponents regardless if she is built to be a DPS or a Support.

Utility Passive: Maid’s Knighthood

This passive is used when cooking a dish that boosts the team’s defense. When doing so, you can select Noelle for a 12% chance to obtain double the dish you are cooking.

Constellation: Parma Cordis

noelle 001

Constellation level 1: I Got Your Back

Unlocking Noelle’s first constellation is a must for a Healer type because it increases the chances of providing HP recovery for the entire team. With I Got Your Back activated, if her elemental skill and elemental burst are active or in effect, the chance of Breastplate to activate an HP regeneration is increased to 100%.

However, this means that to ensure that the entire party is healed with every hit Noelle scores on an opponent, her elemental skill and elemental burst must be used simultaneously.

Constellation level 2: Combat Maid

Noelle’s second constellation level decreases the Stamina consumption of her charged attacks by 20% and increases its damage by 15%.

This constellation effect suggests a playstyle involving many charged attacks for Noelle. Again, the hits done by her charged attacks are faster than her normal attacks. This allows more chances of triggering the HP regeneration of the Breastplate and the cool-down time reduction of her passive, Nice, and Clean.

Constellation level 3: Invulnerable Maid

The third constellation level of Parma Cordis increases the level of Noelle’s elemental skill by three and upgrades its maximum level from 10 to 15.

Constellation level 4: To Be Cleaned

To Be Cleaned is the fourth level of Noelle’s constellation. With it activated, when Breastplate’s duration expires or when it is destroyed, it breaks and deals 400% Geo damage to surrounding opponents. If this damage hits opponents affected by Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, or Electro, it will trigger the Crystallize elemental reaction, and an Elemental Shard will be dropped.

Constellation level 5: Favonius Sweeper Master

The fifth constellation level of Parma Cordis will increase the level of Noelle’s elemental burst talent by three and upgrade its maximum level from 10 to 15.

Constellation level 6: Must Be Spotless

The last level of Noelle’s constellation is called Must Be Spotless, and it enhances her elemental burst talent, Sweeping Time. With this level activated, Sweeping Time will increase Noelle’s ATK by 50% of her Defense. Additionally, for every opponent defeated during Sweeping Time’s duration, 1 second will be added to the duration of the elemental burst. A maximum of 10 seconds can be added.

How to Build Noelle

Defense is Noelle’s main stat, which works for both DPS and Support types.

noelle 017

DPS Build Noelle

You can have a Geo damage bonus and a high amount of defense for a DPS Noelle. Also, try to aim for a decent Critical Rate of around 75% and then get as much Critical Damage as possible.

You can also leave out the Geo damage bonus and replace it with Defense. Still, this build works better in the play style that involves spamming Noelle’s elemental burst talent and, if you have unlocked her final constellation level.

Support Build Noelle

A support Noelle focuses on creating shields and healing the entire team. To have this, Noelle needs a lot of Defense because the strength of her shield and the amount of HP she regenerates scale based on her Defense.

It is also best to unlock Noelle’s first constellation level to maximize her healing capabilities.

Weapon: Claymore

There are already a lot of claymore or big swords available in-game. Choosing one may depend on the build and playstyle you are going for or its availability. Noelle is one of the first playable s-star characters that use a claymore as a weapon.

noelle 018

Remember that most of the 4-star and 5-star rarity weapons can only be obtained by wishing on the item banners. Some 4-stars can be obtained by purchasing them from the Paimon’s Bargains shop using Masterless Starglitters.

5-Star Claymores

Redhorn Stonethresher

claymore card redhorn stonethresher

This claymore is easily the best for a DPS Noelle with its passive effect that increases her defense. At the same time, her normal and charged attacks are further increased by 40% of her maximum defense.

This weapon also makes it easier to build Critical Damage points for Noelle and increases her overall damage output.

Wolf’s Gravestone

claymore card wgs

The Wolf’s Gravestone is the most wanted weapon for all claymore-wielding DPS characters. Its stat and bonus can work decently with most of the claymore DPS characters’ kits and playstyles.

Aside from the ATK% secondary stat, this weapon’s passive effect additionally increases the user’s ATK by 20%. If the weapon wielder hits an enemy with an HP of less than 30%, the entire party’s ATK will be increased by 40%.

The Unforged

claymore card the unforged

This weapon increases the shield’s strength around the character using the weapon. Every hit scored on an opponent increases the user’s ATK for 8 seconds. The ATK increase can be stacked up to 5 times and doubles if the weapon user has a shield.

With the nature of Noelle’s talents and play style, for both DPS and Support, maximizing the effectiveness of this weapon is not a problem.

Skyward Pride

claymore card skyward pride

Despite having Energy Recharge as its secondary stat, Skyward Pride’s damage boost bonuses can be taken from its passive effect, which increases the weapon wielder’s damage. Further, after that character uses an elemental burst talent, their normal and charged attacks will create a vacuum blade if they hit an opponent.

The damage to the vacuum blade created by Skyward Pride’s passive effect is 80% of the weapon wielders max ATK.

The said Noelle could utilize passive effecte her playstyle includes making as many normal or charged attacks right after casting her elemental burst.

4-Star Claymores

Whiteblind

claymore card whiteblind

This claymore is one of the easiest to own because you can craft this with the town smithy.

Whiteblind has a secondary stat of Defense which is perfect for Noelle, whose primary stat is Defense. Whenever the user hits an opponent with a standard or charged attack, their ATK and defense temporarily increase for a certain amount. A maximum of 4 stacks of this buff can be gained.

The passive effect of this weapon can be easily triggered by Noelle’s playstyle, which involves making a lot of normal and charged attacks.

Prototype Archaic

claymore card prototype archaic

This weapon is another claymore that can be crafted with the blacksmith. It is also a safe weapon for a DPS-type character, with its stat focusing on giving ATK points.

With the Prototype Archaic, the weapon user’s normal and charged attack has a 50% chance to deal with an additional attack hit to the opponents nearby. The damage of this additional attack is around 240% to 360%, depending on the weapon’s refinement level.

Serpent’s Spine

claymore card serpent spine

The Serpent’s Spine is a 4-star claymore that you can get by purchasing and unlocking the Gnostic Hymn and reaching level 30 of the game’s Battle Pass. This means spending real money, and if you are willing to do so, then this weapon is something to consider.

This claymore’s secondary stat is Critical Rate which allows Noelle the decent Critical Rate amount for consistent critical hits on any battle. If you have this weapon for Noelle, you can focus more on increasing his Critical Damage points.

When equipping this, Noelle gains a damage increase every 4 seconds that she is on the field, and this effect stacks up to 5 times. However, with every stack of damage increase, Noelle’s damage is also increased, and with every damage she takes, a stack of the effect is removed.

Since Noelle can shield herself during battle, the increased damage that she takes as an effect of the weapon will not be a problem.

Lithic Blade

claymore card lithic

Although designed to fit a character from Liyue perfectly, the Lithic Blade can still be a good weapon for Noelle as long as at least one character in his team hails from the land of Geo.

The reason for this is, with this 4-star claymore, for every character in the party who hails from Liyue, the user’s ATK and Critical Rate increase. This effect can be stacked up to 4 times, and to have that maximum stack, all party members, including the user of the weapon, have to be from Liyue.

Luxurious Sea Lord

claymore card luxurious sea lord

This event-exclusive 4-star claymore is a weapon you can equip any claymore-wielding DPS character due to its straightforward stat bonus. Its passive effect increases the elemental burst damage of the character. When that elemental burst attack hits an opponent, a huge surge of tuna is summoned to deal damage to nearby enemies.

Sacrificial Greatsword

claymore card sacrificial greatsword

This claymore has a secondary stat that increases Energy Recharge Rate by 30.6%. Its passive effect will give the user’s elemental skill a chance to reset its cool-down time when it hits an opponent.

Sacrificial Greatsword is a good choice for a Support type Noelle. The secondary stat can help make up for the high energy requirement of her elemental burst. The passive effect can reset the cooldown of Breastplate, allowing more users and, in turn, letting her provide shields more often.

Artifacts for Noelle

Husk of Opulent Dreams

card husk of opulent dreams

This artifact set is designed for a Geo character whose main stat is Defense.

Its 2-piece set gives a 30% Defense bonus, and its 4-piece set bonus grants the user the Curiosity effect in certain conditions. When on the field, the character gains one stack of Curiosity when they hit an opponent with a Geo attack. The character gains one stack of Curiosity every 3 seconds when off the field.

Each stack of Curiosity effect grants a 6% Defense and Geo damage bonus to the character, and a maximum of 4 stacks can be obtained. However, if 6 seconds have passed and no new stack is gained, one stack of Curiosity will be lost.

Archaic Petra

card archaic petra

The 2-piece set of Archaic Petra grants a 15% Geo damage bonus to the character using the artifact. If 4 pieces are equipped, aside from the 15% Geo damage bonus, and if the character picks up an Elemental Shard created through Crystallize Reaction, all party members will gain a 35% damage bonus for that particular element.

The elemental damage bonus lasts for 10 seconds, and only one elemental damage bonus can be obtained in this manner at any one time.

The 4-piece set can be useful as a support for Noelle’s team, but you need to make sure the Elemental Shard you pick up is of the same element as your team’s DPS character. However, the 2-piece set bonus can somehow increase the damage of Noelle’s elemental skill and elemental burst.

Retracing Bolide

card retracing bolide

The 2-piece set of the Retracing Bolide increases the strength of the shield around the artifact user by 35%. With the 4-piece set, while the character is protected by a shield, they increase 40% to the damage of their normal and charged attacks.

This artifact is designed for DPS characters who can summon a shield over themselves and deal damage with their normal or charged attacks. The play style of a DPS Noelle benefits from the effects of the 4-pieces set of this artifact.

Gladiator’s Finale

card gladiators finale 1

This artifact set is probably designed to fit characters with a play style similar to Noelle’s. Equipping her with four pieces of this artifact set increases her ATK by 18% and further increases the damage of her normal attacks by 35%.

After using her elemental burst, Noelle’s attacks will be converted to Geo, and she can then do normal attacks that deal Geo damage. With the 4-piece set of the Gladiator’s Finale, Noelle’s normal Geo attack damage is enhanced.

Shimenawa’s Reminiscence

card shimenawa 1

Since Noelle’s playstyle involves a lot of normal or charged attacks, the 4-piece set of this artifact can be a good choice.

Aside from the 18% increase in Noelle’s ATK, when she has 15 or more energy, she loses 15 more energy after using an elemental skill, but the damage of her normal, charged, and plunging attacks increases by 50% for 10 seconds.

Echoes of an Offering

card echoes of an offering 1

The 2-piece set of this artifact, like the two above, gives an 18% ATK bonus. If a 4-piece set is equipped, when normal attacks of the character hit opponents, there is a 36% chance that it will trigger the Valley Rite buff. This buff increases the normal attack damage by 70% of the character’s ATK.

With Noelle’s playstyle centered on doing normal attack combos, triggering the Valley Rite buff will not be a problem.

Combination of 2-Piece Artifact Sets

The 2-piece sets of Husk of Opulent Dreams, Archaic Petra, and Retracing Bollide can be combined to get the stat and fit the build you want for Noelle.

You can also combine 2-piece sets of Gladiator’s Finale, Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, Echoes of an Offering, and Vermillion Hereafter because each can provide an 18% increase in ATK, which is still decent for a DPS Noelle.

Artifact Parts’ Main Stat

For a DPS Noelle you can choose to have a Goblet of Eonothem with the main stat of either Geo Damage Bonus or Defense.

The Circlet of Logos is always better to hathan havingwith either Critical Rate or Critical damage as the main stat, depending on what Noelle is lacks you can also focus on getting Defense on these two if your play style spins Noelle’s elemental burst.

Defense is the only stat to focus on for the support type because the strength of Breastplate’s shield and the amount of HP regenerated to heal the team both scale based on this stat.

This maid of the Knights of Favonius can be ascended to 6 phases to reach the maximum character level of 90. Passive talents and special ascension stats will also be unlocked when a character is ascended to certain phases.
