The character and loot unlock system in Genshin Impact is an interesting new concept in the world of RPGs. It’s completely unique to this game, since we have first seen it here.
It’s called the Wish system and you can get random rewards in the form of characters and equipment using Wishes. There are also the usual ways of unlocking these things, for example, through quests, dungeons, chests, etc.
But today, we will focus on wishes. Exactly, how do wishes work in Genshin Impact?
Wishes in Genshin Impact – How Do They Work?
Well, to get these so-called wishes, you need to exchange another currency. But in Genshin it’s pretty strange since the game has more than 5-6 currencies.
Well, what do you need? You can either use Primogems, Starglitter, or Stardust.
Primogems, Starglitter, and Stardust explained:
- Primogems
This trading commodity can be obtained in millions of ways:
- Chests
- Quests
- Hidden Quests
- Monsters
- Bosses
- Dungeons
- Etc.
This is the main and recommendable way of getting using Wishes.
- Starglitter
Extremely rare items from which you need five to get Acquainted Fate. It’s unknown how much Fates you can unlock until it locks.
- Stardust
Not as rare as Starglitter, but still one of the more challenging items to acquire in-game. You’ll need 75 of these to get one Fate.
Using Primogems to get Fates will work until you get the max amount per day, this is somewhere between 5-10. After certain amount of time, they will unlock again.
Progression through the game will give you a lot of Fates as rewards. This is substantial at the beginning but slowly loses its viability. After that you can still get them from rewards from dungeons and quest, but not from leveling up.
At least, not until the developers implement more levels into the game. To sum up, you need Fates to unlock wishes that unlock items and characters. These Fates can be bought with three different currencies or as a reward from something else. Good luck!
