Five Nights at Freddy’s was a horror franchise that launched way back in 2014, and after multiple games under the IP, we’re finally getting a game from Blumhouse. Just in, we have a look at Day 1 of production of the film (with the working title Bad Cupcake).

Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie Starts Filming

This was teased by producer Jason Blum:

Here’s the official description for the film:

A troubled security guard (Josh Hutcherson) begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.

Besides Hutcherson, the movie also includes cast members Matthew Lillard and Elizabeth Lail. The movie is also being directed by Emma Tammi with original FNAF creator Scott Cawthon (who also co-wrote the script).

The game was a huge hit back in the mid-2010s, spawning several Youtube careers of people just playing the game and getting scared out of their pants. We should expect the movie to essentially play out like the game, but I’m hoping the film doesn’t rely too much on the jumpscares like the original game did.

If anything, it’s going to be interesting to see this alternate Chuck E. Cheese come to life and try to murder Peeta from The Hunger Games for five consecutive nights. I’m sure everyone can relate to being afraid of these kid-friendly animatronic mascots.

No release date has been announced for the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, but you can check out the original game now available on Steam.
