Who knew stealing a tow truck would be this easy?
The Tow Truck mission in GTA 5 is part of a 4-part heist setup that unlocks the next heist mission, Blitz Play, upon completion. In Tow Truck, Franklin/Michael/Trevor look to steal a tow truck from an auto repair shop in Elysian Island for use in the upcoming mission.
We have outlined everything you need to know about the Tow Truck mission and how you can get a Gold Medal for completing the mission in GTA 5.
Tow Truck Synopsis
Franklin/Michael/Trevor head to Elysian Island to pick up a tow truck and deliver it to the FIB warehouse. Fortunately, one is parked just outside a run-down auto repair shop. To avoid being reported to the police, Franklin/Michael/Trevor took out the mechanic before stealing the Tow Truck.
With the mechanic down and the Tow Truck in his possession, Franklin/Michael/Trevor carefully drive the Tow Truck back to El Burro Heights and leave it there while the rest of the crew acquires the other tools required for the mission.
Tow Truck Gold Medal Objectives
- Time: Complete within 03:00
- Not a Scratch: Deliver the Tow Truck with no damage.
- Truckin’: Reach top speed in the Tow Truck.
All Gold Medal objectives for this mission can be completed through multiple replays. You can come back another time and replay the mission to get the rest of the Gold Medal objectives.
Tow Truck Mission Guide
Walk over to the auto repair shop. You will find a tow truck parked next to a broken low-rider.
Refer to the map below to find the auto repair shop’s exact location.
Walk behind the mechanic and knock him out. Make sure you deal with the mechanic before you steal the tow truck or risk getting the attention of the LSPD.
Drive the tow truck back to the FIB warehouse. You must ensure the tow truck does not incur any damage while driving to the warehouse.
Use Franklin’s special ability to escape sticky situations like the one shown below.
You need to reach top speed in the tow truck to complete the Truckin’ Gold Medal objective. Your best bet to achieve this objective is the straight road at Banning. Feel free to use Franklin’s special ability to reach top speed safely.
Deliver the tow truck to the assigned location in the FIB warehouse. Leave the tow truck to finish the mission.

Tow Truck is a straightforward mission since it is a heist setup mission for Blitz Play. To get a Gold Medal in Tow Truck, you need to use Franklin to start the mission. With Franklin’s special ability, you can easily hit top speed and make sure that the Tow Truck arrives in perfect condition, completing the Not a Scratch and Truckin’ Gold Medal objectives. Do not worry too much about the Time objective, as the mission will not have any cutscenes.
With the tow truck secured, all left is getting those Boiler Suits, Masks, and Trash Trucks to unlock the Blitz Play mission in GTA 5.
