Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is an open-world game in which the player takes on the character of a transferee in a large Paldea region school.

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet: Poppy (Elite Four) Guide

The player is the only one who may choose what to do in the game: dismantle the wicked Team Star, complete the Pokedex and catch them all, uncover the intriguing new Titan Pokemon, or defeat all of the Pokemon Gyms, become champion, and become the best like no one ever was!

Near the end of the Victory Road questline, the player will strive to become the Champion by entering the Pokemon League and battling and defeating the Elite Four and the Top Champion, Geeta. In this guide, we will discuss how to defeat Poppy, the second member of the Elite Four!

The player can find Poppy and the other members of the Elite Four in the Pokemon League found in the northwest of Mesagoza (or southwest of the Great Crater of Paldea).

To reach the Pokemon League, the player can head to Mesagoza in the southern part of the Great Crater of Paldea, head to the northwest from the Mesagoza (West) Pokemon Center, head up the stairs next to the sandwich shop, enter the cave with a gate, once the game loads back to follow the path that leads northwest, then, at the end of the path, the player will find the Pokemon League building and a Pokemon Center.

Before attempting to battle Poppy and the other members of Elite Four in the Pokemon League, the player must battle all eight Pokemon Gyms in the Paldea Region and earn their Gym Badges.

Proceed to the Pokemon League after beating all of the Pokemon Gyms. As you approach the Pokemon League building’s door, a cutscene will play in which Champion Geeta stands near the entrance and informs the player that the Pokemon League, the final test that the player must complete to become a Champion, will be held in the building.

When you’re ready, approach the Pokemon League Staff in front of the entrance, who will ask if you’re ready to take the Pokemon League’s Champion Assessment.

Answer ‘Yes’ to the question; the Pokemon League Staff will check to see if the player has collected all eight Gym Badges from the Pokemon Gym Leaders across the Paldea region.

If so, the Pokemon League Staff will admit the player inside the building.

Before the player can begin confronting any of the Elite Four, Rika will give the player a series of questions to answer successfully.

After correctly answering the questions, choose the Pokemon you wish to use against all of the Elite Four, stock up on healing goods, and then proceed to the door right behind Rika, where the player will now fight the Elite Four, beginning with Rika.

Poppy

After defeating Rika, the player will be informed that the second Elite Four member is stronger than Rika. Rika will then call the next trainer, who will be Poppy.

Then, when the player is ready, approach Poppy, and choose ‘Yes’ on the prompt when asked if the player is ready to confront Poppy of the Elite Four, and the battle will begin! Make sure to heal your Pokemon before battling Poppy.

Poppy, the second member of the Elite Four, will be using five Steel-type Pokemon: a Level 58 Copperajah, a Level 58 Magnezone, a Level 58 Corviknight, a Level 58 Bronzong, and a Level 59 Tinkaton.

  • Iron Defense, which is a Steel type status move that raises the Defense stat of the Pokemon using the move by two stages.

Aside from its moves, Poppy’s Corviknight has an Ability called Pressure. If the Pokemon with the Ability is hit with a move from the opposing Pokemon, the used move loses 2 PP instead of only 1.

Tinkaton

Tinkaton is a Steel and Fairy-type Pokemon. Still, Poppy will terastallize Tinkaton, which will change it into a pure Steel type because of its Tera type, so it will have a weakness to Fighting-type, Fire-type, and Ground-type moves (super effective), a resistance to the Bug-type, Dragon-type, Fairy-type, Flying-type, Grass-type, Ice-type, Normal-type, Psychic-type, Rock-type, and Steel-type moves (not very effective), and immunity to Poison-type moves (no effect).

  • Gigaton Hammer, which is a physical Steel-type move with 160 power and 100 accuracies that cannot be used in succession.

Aside from its moves, Poppy’s Tinkaton has an Ability called Mold Breaker which allows the Pokemon the ability to use moves without being affected by the opposing Pokemon’s Ability.

Tips

Because Poppy’s Pokemon range from Level 58 to 59, it is recommended that the player use Pokemon that are Level 60 and higher

It is advised that the player’s Pokemon have Fire-type moves to comfortably defeat Poppy and her Pokemon, as almost all of Poppy’s Pokemon are weak against these moves. Fortunately, Fire-type Pokemon, which obviously use Fire-type moves, are resistant to Steel-type moves. Each of Poppy’s Pokemon has at least one, so they would definitely be great against Poppy’s Pokemon team.

Pokemon like Arcanine can be great to use against Poppy’s Pokemon as Arcanine can have an Ability called Intimidate which lowers the opposing Pokemon’s Attack stat by one stage when the Pokemon with the Ability enters the battle. Additionally, Arcanine can deal super effective damage using its Fire-type moves while resisting Ground-type moves.

After defeating Poppy and all of her Pokemon, the player is one step closer to completing the Pokemon League and becoming a Champion in the Paldea Region!
